Is this the "norm" accepted by most, or a proven on the new interior models?

For $83k I'd hope the Yukon interior was a quality product.

not sure if quite in the same realm, but a buddy of mine bought a corvette a while back and said just cuz it cost quite a bit, the quality was still shit. the motor and name is what he bought (his words)

I’ve rented the new GMC Denali for a few days as well as the new Escalade. I also drove the new Expedition on a long distance trip. Ford had the cheapest interior but the powertrain was perfect and the vehicle felt the closest to Sequoias maneuverability. The GM trucks had great features inside and drove nice to but felt bigger and heavier. None of them had more comfortable seats in front and back. They all had more room behind third row. Plastics were better in GM twins and worse in the Ford. I won’t buy the GM full size suvs cause I hate how the rear lower control arms look, way too low to the ground. But it’s a toss up between the Expedition Timberline and the new sequoia. I need better fuel mileage for those trips down to Florida, stopping every 270 miles to fuel up is rough.

Expect to pay 70k or more for the Timberline unless you have a Ford plan and they let you use it.

I have a feeling that’s were the TRD PRO will land. BTW from the videos the PRO was missing pano roof and heated rear seats.

I heard in one video the pano roof is only available in Capstone trim.

Unfortunately the Timberline won't be available in the Max, which is disappointing to me. Maybe they will offer it for 2023. The Max is slightly shorter than a crew cab F150 which gets Tremor and FX4 packages, so I don't know why they don't have any off road goodies on a Max Expedition anymore.

I had the same experience when the stingray first came out. Ran to the grocery story - saw the first stingray on the road (that I had seen) in Houston. Pulled up and complemented the guy on the car - he asked if I wanted to see it and sit in it - got in (he had the key :D) and that was exactly my reaction - price is all in the name and engine. The interior of my XLE Sienna felt more high end than that car. You could literally see the parts bin in the interior. The steering wheel and hud were nice though...

The Pro also only comes in rear captains chairs and not a bench.

demand - probably just not there - most people that are overlanding are in regular expos/tahoes/sequoias - not long wheel based (although I'm pretty sure they have the FX4 package on the MAX)

    that's a big miss

We recently took a trip, six adults and an 80lb GSD & an 80lb Staffordshire, all our stuff fit and the Sequoia was comfortable for all.

Kids (30+ years old) even watched DVDs lol

Took me 6 months to find my Limited with captain's chairs so I'm ok with that. 90% of the time I'm alone in the truck.

Larger on the outside. Smaller on the inside and that 3rd row seat? Some of us don't want a hybrid with NiCad batteries either.

A slightly used Lexus GX460 is looking better and better for us.

So glad you mentioned how ridiculous the rear control arms look. It was the first thing I notice on the GM product. Literally 4-5” from the road. Looks like a skateboard between the wheels. Everyone on here will buy the hell out of the sequoia or they probably wouldn’t be on here at all.

Pano is standard on Capstone from what I've seen, it's optional on other trims but hard to find whether that will carry over to the TRD Pro, same with the heated seats in 2nd row

I remember reading something a while back as to why Yota continues with NiCad vs Li-ion - honestly don't remember why, but they did "have a reason" - will have to see if I can find it

I suppose that makes sense & I have actual data to show they are right. I had a 2006 hybrid Camry, it's battery died just outside the warranty. (8 years and three or so months, just over 100k or whatever the miles were)Dealer said sorry, sad for you, Toyota US said we'll goodwill the battery, you pay 500 labor.

My Dad has a 2014 Fusion, it's Lithium battery died at three years and 20k miles IN WARRANTY, Ford tried to blame everything but sun spots trying to get out of fixing it under warranty. We got them to do it but it was a hassle.

If the hybrid battery dies completely could the Sequoia still run as ICE-only? Or is all propulsion tied to that battery? It’s got an electric only mode good for 18mi I think I read…

That would be ok if they still had the FX4 option on the Max for the 2022. I read somewhere that the Timberline was replacing the FX4 option though. https://fordauthority.com/2021/09/2...rline-totally-kills-the-fx4-off-road-package/

In January of '21 I rented a 10k mile top of the line Expedition (needed it to move my Mom to Santa Monica) while I was looking for my Sequoia. It was nicer than I expected and the turbo 6 was shockingly potent. For 40k more than my used Sequoia, I'm very happy not having a Ford.

Oh, there will be plenty of critical reviews coming. Especially about the front seats to the tailgate. That is a ridiculous setup. Anybody can look at pics of a 2nd Gen cargo area and see the cargo volume is much reduced. Hybrid only??? WTH, between the hybrid battery and SRA the cargo volume will be worst in class. No more sweet fulltime 4HI, which all competitors have available.

There's some things to praise like gobs of power and a few more MPG's. You get MTS, Crawl Control, rear locker with the TRD Offroad package. 400W inverter.

I was thinking better MPG's would be a good reason to buy used in a few years, but the cargo area is ridiculous. We need a stout 4WD tow vehicle for the Airstream, but also need the cargo volume of the 2019 and a truly flat cargo area from tailgate to B-pillar.

personally I'd rather have the head room inside of the vehicle and not a lowered seat to fit me. IM only 6' tall and bet my big ole pumpkin head will be right at or very near the roof line.

if you're a soccer mom that most likely isn't going to be an issue unless she's an Amazon woman.

Im about 6’ with a long body and short legs (odd I know) and my head has plenty of room in my Tundra. All the people that have been in the new Sequoia have said it’s a tundra with a third row. So we’ll see, either way my wife is vertically challenged and will fit just fine.
