timing belt is every 100,000 miles or 10 years is what I go by, and if there’s no record of ball joints being replaced just do them, just did mine cost $250 for oem and a couple hours of my time. Cheap insurance to not die or be stranded somewhere.

I also would start doing drain and fills on your transmission every oil change. Doing 3-4 quarts at a time should be fine .

 

"Low interference engine" is how I'd heard it called, and what I started using here, @BubbaW is right, I think I was putting the fear of Jeebus in people's soul. Bad things can happen if the belt snaps on the V8, but it's 50/50, you've got a good chance if it snaps at low RPM.

That said, Toyota says 90k/9yr ***IF*** you use OEM parts, i.e. Toyota branded (which is Mitsuboshi, not to be confused with Mitsubishi), or the Aisin kit ending in -021 on the part number. But yeah, 10yr/100k is what a lot of others are doing without issue. We've seen some of the factory belts last a long friggin time.

 

There was a 2006 double cab broke down in the intersection yesterday I went to help the guy he said it just died on him with no warning no lights on the dash nothing. I pulled his timing belt cover back and it was completely cracked to hell but still holding together after 250,000 miles Ended up just being a bad battery but I told him time to give the old girl some love this was a warning cry.

 

Either me or my dad somehow lost the paperwork for the truck so I'm not sure when mine was last done. I do know I sold the truck back to my dad in 2014 and he never got it done in the time he had it back. I'm definitely due on years, if not mileage as well. I have the kit, I just need to get a round tuit.

The mounting brackets were flipped around to make it fit on the 2000 Tundra AC.
It's not perfect, but looks decent. You can hear the wind around it, but not bad.
