I have had mine on for 4 weeks now and about 1200 miles. Which is actually quite a bit for me. Only been in good warm weather and a little bit of rain. No gulley washers or anything but I have yet to lose traction unless I was trying. That was in a turn, going up hill, and I really had to goose it, traction control kicked in and stopped spinning pretty much instantly.

I kept reading about balancing issues which had me a little worried. Glad to say we had zero issues getting them balanced.

Then everyone was complaining about how heavy they are. I still don’t understand that one and am curious as to which tires they are comparing them to.

My top choice of tires this go round were Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T
    Cooper Rugged Trek
    Toyo Open Country A/TIII
    BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO2
    Falken Wildpeak AT3W

The only tire in that list that weighed less and being the 285/70/17 that I was switching to is the Toyo and only by 2 pounds a tire.
I came from a 275/60/20 Michelin LTX A/T2 and it is only 2 pounds lighter than the Mickey in the size I was going to. So I really don’t understand the weight complaint.
I also switched from factory wheels to SSW so I saved a bunch of weight there.
Factory 20” Limited wheels with the Michelins in 275/60/20 weighed in at 86 pounds.
The SSW with the 285/70/17 Mickeys weighed in at 72 pounds. So I am down 14 pounds a corner.
So for me the weight is a non starter.

I drive on a TON of gravel roads. Had the Michelins on the Tundra and Wildpeak AT3Ws on my Expedition before.
Both of Those suckers are freaking rock chuckers!!! They pick up every piece of gravel and when you get to pavement you are slinging rocks for about a 1/4 mile!!!
These Mickeys pick up a few but nothing compared to those two so that is a huge plus in my book.

Now, let’s talk about the big one Noise!! Don’t get it twisted these things are not quiet. However they are not loud either.
I came from Michelins that are freaking whisper quiet so there is that.
For as aggressive as these tires are they make far less noise than I was actually expecting. I drive a lot of gravel and 2 lane (well more like 1 3/4 lane) backroads that don’t have the best pavement.
These tires are loudest between 45 and 65 mph on these roads. Yes, I understand a portion of it is the roads. But the Michelins were whisper quiet on these roads as well. I also understand there is really no comparison between the 2 tires.
On the Highway I usually set the cruise to 80. These things are glorious. Just a bit louder of almost a hum. Nothing that does not fade away if you are not trying to listen for it.
Conversations are not bothered by the noise.
With the windows down the road noise is amplified across the board. But nothing a couple notches on the radio volume does not remedy.
It’s been a number of years since the Wildpeaks but I would say these are a bit louder.
But these are better looking, aren’t rock chuckers, quite a bit lighter, and MADE IN THE USA.
    So Mickey all day long.

As for ride comfort well they blow my Michelins out of the water and my truck had a really good ride before.
However the Michelins were a 20” tire and my Mickeys at 17” so I have gained 1.5” of sidewall cushion so I expected that.
I had Bilstein 5100s from an F150 in the front of my Expedition and 4600s on spacers in the rear with the Wildpeaks so it rode not very well. But still was decent and did well off-road. Actually did really well off-road. I do miss that thing sometimes.
But that was the only way to get any lift on the Ecoboost Expeditions at the time when they first came out. So sacrifices had to be made.

These tires do not roll as smoothly as the Michelins but that is also to be expected but they are very good rolling tires.
Granted I lost 14 pounds a corner but the truck in no way feels sluggish.

Granted my mileage and time on these tires is low. But I am absolutely loving them and was very happy with my choice especially since they were about $400 cheaper for the set than the competition I was looking at since MT had a $100 mail in rebate that arrived in 3 weeks which is super quick for those sorts of things.

So right now I have to say get them if you are thinking about it!!

    Beautiful!
Any issues with rubbing? I have my set in my garage same size, going on my TRD pro next week and hoping for no issues!

None street driving. Full lock forward and reverse. Going to try and get it offroad soon.

I was following your post and was looking to see if you got yours installed before I went up to get them put on!

Haha! Sorry. Toyota here is quite busy right now cause of winter season, and I have a maintence two coming up and figured I might as well get it all done in one appointment. Hopefully it turns out! And thanks for the intel.

No rubbing at all sounds great. It should also clear my stock truck as well then.

Anyone with a third gen tundra have any insight into what PSI they are running right now? They were quite stiff at first for me, but realized they pretty much put max on. So lowered it, I’ve seen some people say they run 35 even.. too low?

Don’t adjust pressure for ride. Adjust for contact area. Mine is at 45 psi and has a great contact area across the tread. It’s an E load tire and they will be stiff.

Your best bet is you email Mickey Thompson. Tell them what you drive send a picture of your door jamb sticker and if you tow frequently how much you tow what tire size and model you have and they will give you the best answer.

A lot of different variables determine proper pressure not just driving a 3rd gen.

Just ordered the MT Baja Boss A/T in 305/55r20. They are replacing MT Baja ATZ. The ATZ has been a good tire. They were on the truck when i bought it. They weren't great in the winter last year. Coming from a Tacoma with Michelin tires, i was all over the place with the Tundra. I've put 35k miles on them and i have no idea how many miles were on them previously, but they were decently worn when i bought the truck. This year in the snow, it was sliding all over the place. So i pulled the trigger on new shoes.

The ATZ was not 3 peak snow rated. The Boss A/T is. They look to be closer to an AT than MT than the ATZ. $2000 from tore rack plus mounting costs. Damn expensive but this size tire just isn't cheap. I'm excited to see what the new tires are like

My wife and I are heading out here soon. We got a moderate amount of snow in Iowa. My old Falken LT AT3W's got around very well! I'm hoping the Boss AT's do too!

I'm in iowa too. Nothing like a fresh 9" of snow to play in. I am out in the snow and just have to be much more careful than i would like. I would love to know how the Boss ATs are.

You'll be fine. Just rotate them / leave them. Don't expect anything to be good on ice. If the B B MT's are 3PMSF rated you'll be fine.

They performed excellent! We did some slow, drifted, gravel travel and 100% covered highway at 45 or so MPH. These have more grip than the Falken AT3W’s I believe. The snow was wet BTW. I will get them on some frozen pack tomorrow in the AM and will report back.

You can see my lugs are quite worn in comparison and the ATZ just doesn't have much siping to it compared to the Boss AT.

It still does good in the snow, but it should me significantly better with new shoes

I want these tires but they sure are proud of them. Roughly $80 more per tire than the Wildpeaks. Hard to believe they are that much better.

I put over 100k on two sets of the AT3W’s in a LT285-70-17 size on a 2007 FJ Cruiser. They held up great to highway, gravel, trails, deep sand, slick rock, snow/ice, etc. No deep mud however. The Baja Boss AT’s felt grippier today in a deep wet snow. They are a 295/70-18 size and on my Tundra. So not a true comparison. We will be adventuring this year quite a bit do I will add as we go.

The Wildpeaks are odd to me because they don't look that aggressive but they get great reviews.

They are definitely not as aggressive looking as the BB AT's, but they do work very well in about everything. I ran E load 285/70-17's on my Cruiser at 45 psi front and 43 psi rear. We had them on Silver Lake dunes in Michigan and on Corova, Ocracoke and Hatteras beaches on the OBX. Also done a ton of trails in Moab and quite a few high mountain passes in Colorado. Aired down to 15 psi they performed great. Never had an issues with cuts or funny wear. The first set were still at 1/2 tread at 75,000 miles with a 5 tire rotation. I am pretty easy on tires so long life for me is expected. Anyway, I just had one tire that was slightly cupping so I changed them out for the second set. They were wearing like iron too but I went with the Mickey Thompson's just to try something different.

A couple years ago when they first came out they were priced super cheap so it was a blowout on price vs quality. They’ve all but caught up to the big boys now

I just pulled a 15deg. uphill gravel driveway with a frozen heavy snow pack in 2wd with the Baja Boss's. I am totally impressed by these tires!
