Congrats! What kind of mods do you have planned, if any yet?

 

How's the rear storage fit for size?

 

Probably just wheels and tires for now. Most of the stuff I did on the last one is already done n this one. She’ll probably want a Pro grill again, but that’s likely well down the road.

 

I haven’t really gone through it thoroughly yet since we just got it last night. At first glance it’s a good bit smaller vertically. The lack of floorboards on the third row would suck if I ever rode back there.

Thoughts on solid rear axle?

 

Congrats! It'll be interesting to get an objective owner's comparison from you (once the new car excitement wears off) on how the two really compare. Most of the media types rely on good reviews to keep getting press loaners so they tend to sugar-coat some stuff. I'm particularly interested in how the fit and finish, real world fuel economy, and ride quality compare. We already know that the new Sequoia has the cargo space of a 4Runner so that's not going to be a surprise for you.

I'm considering swapping my 22 TRD Pro for another final (23) year of the GX460 (4.6L V8), otherwise I'll wait for the new Land Cruiser coming to the States / Canada later in 2023 as the new Land Cruiser Prado, as long as it doesn't have the I4 twin-turbo engine. The way Toyota is going with the less reliable, small displacement high-strung turbo engines, my 5.7L Sequoia, the 4L 4Runnner TRD OR, and the GX460 (4.6L) will be our last Toyotas. May need to pick up an INEOS Grenadier in year 2 or 3 once the bugs are ironed out.

 

It does ride rougher than the 2019, but it’s not terrible. You just feel bumps a bit more. It’s more apparent in the rear seats than it is in the front.
The new one is 2wd vs the 4wd on the old one. Don’t know if that has any effect on the ride though. There’s also the issue of the battery adding a good bit of weight to the rear.

There are some trade offs, but so far we’re really happy with it. It is definitely faster, seems to be more responsive, and has a much nicer interior. While fuel economy is better, the tank is smaller so she has to refuel just as often.

 

Would you be able to do a tank swap? I mean maybe not now as the truck is so new, but later down the road to increase the trip distance?

Just guessing one doesn't even exist to swap into it unless the Tundra one does but with that battery back there I bet there is no room.

 

No idea but I can’t imagine we’d bother.

 

The JBL in the new one is better than the JBL in the old one, but still not to my liking. That battle will continue.
There wasn’t any stopping her once the new one became available. She’s been waiting for an update since the Gen 2.5 Tundras came out. She was big mad that the Tundra got a facelift and the Sequoia didn’t. The 2019 was just to hold her over since she had so many miles on her 2012.
