Look on the backside of the driver rear tire. Looks like some big square box. Possibly the lower link mount...

 

I’m jealous they have a rear wheel well liner. I see the are hiding the fact the leaf springs are gone with a box to cover them. Independent rear suspension.

 

Just an oddball question, truck was on a public road, how is the covers over the tail lights and whatnot legal?

A Ram designer??? They should have hired a Ford F-150 designer instead. I strongly suggest that Toyota have their Tundra owners design the new Tundra. I know that I personally could design a badass pickup truck that’s a cross between these two trucks. But even cooler. It would have 3000hp, uses water for fuel, goes 5000 miles per fill-up. Has a 30 year bumper to bumper warranty. Drives on top of water (amphibious). Has armor plated everything and all the windows are night vision/IR with thermal imaging for night driving. For daytime driving the windows transition to telescopic “Hubble Telescope” type view. And last, but not least, the truck would go from 0 to 60 in under 1 minute and have a maximum speed of 350 miles per hour.







Now, that would be a BADASS TUNDRA!!

If this is even close then why have they kept the non functional hood bulge? Just get rid of the damn thing. I don't see the Tundra continuing the current design style though, I see it being one of the first with the new direction Toyota will be taking.

I think it is okay. Not great, but it can grow on me. It will be more difficult to make it an off-road looking vehicle. No bumpers to replace, at least not an easy bolt-on mod. Also too streamline on-road look for a lift.

So, for keeping it OEM might be okay; building an off-road rig will be more challenging. I am sure the production model will have similar challenges.

 

I think Toyota trucks will all have a more streamlined aerodynamic look to them, and I also think they will have a large selection of aftermarket Toyota brand parts for those that want to lift the vehicle and install larger tires. That way they earn money on both ends of the sale.

 

Yes, there is no way around getting a more streamlined look. People hoping for a square tough truck look will be disappointed. We can just as well make peace with that part of the anticipation.
