That's too be expected, my buddies with Ecoboost ford's had drastic drops to. Larger heavy tires require you to push the skinny pedal more which gets you in boost which then eats up fuel economy.

How much do mud tires drop mpgs on the 5.7? I know I lost 2 mpgs going up to 275/70/18 all terrains so to lose another mpg or so isn't out of the question with full on mud terrains.

adding 37 inch tires 37x12.5-18 on 18" Fuel vector wheels. With a 2-3 inch lift should clear no problem

When I took the Firestone ATs off and replaced them with the same size Duratracs, my mileage stayed almost identical. When I put a 2” lift on I lost about 5%.

105K is the top spec trim.

From what I understand they are doing a full on multi trim level offering with the electric Silverado, just like the gas powered. So they will have offerings starting at 39K. and going up about 10K each trim level till you get to the top.

So it looks like the way Chevy is doing it, if you want a fully electric truck, you can pick one between 40-100K that fits your budget and requirements. Not a bad way to try to do that actually.

I agree with the approach - similar to Ford’s. Let’s hope they don’t screw the pooch on pricing the way that Ford has on the Lightning.

I wouldn't have any information on that. This will be my first Tundra. Admittedly, this MPG drop has me questioning what, if any, modifications I will do now. Then again, I've been pretty spoiled mpg wise with my previous 2.8 Duramax Canyon.

I know you don't buy a Tundra for mpgs, but I was kind of hoping for some slightly better performance after tires etc.

Right now they are only releasing pricing on the top trim and bottom trim, neither of which will appeal to most people. We'll have to see what happens in a couple years.

Right, they said those two prices were the bookends and the other trims will fall in between, so pretty much same pricing as any other trucks out there right now.

That WT trim in 4wd could have some potential for a cheap work truck. I actually don't hate chevy's version, the bed is very versatile and the interior isn't terrible.

I am kind of holding out to see what if anything Toyota does, I would probably buy a full electric Tacoma.

Agreed. I see it as an Avalanche throwback, and I have family who still loves their Avalanche and the versatility it provides them. So, I'm excited to see it in person, I only fear it will be many years before we can reasonably and readily purchase one.

I'd probably jump on an all electric Tacoma as well! That prototype looks awesome!

I can't get past that slab of cheap plastic on the front of the WT. I'm sure the interior won't do it any favors either.

I like the electric Tacoma a lot, unfortunately it doesn't fit my needs. Too small and not enough tow capacity.

Yeah, the W/T trim really should drop the amount of plastic. Although I have no need, I'm very curious to see more about the trim rated to tow 20,000 pounds they have in the pipeline!

I wonder about that as well or if it's like Tesla where they claim the Cybertruck can do some ridiculous number that would never be certified.

Nevermind that towing 20k your range has to be like 20 miles.

    Haha, true!

There is much to be done before I make the jump. I'm not against EVs at all, it's just not there yet for me. I need the infrastructure, the speed of charging to increase, no waiting at charging stalls (similar to the experience of a fuel pump), all while keeping the 350+ mile range. My assumption it will be much more accessible to me by the end of the decade, but we will see.

The guys whole thing is that he’s a total tool. I’m not sure how aware of that he is? Maybe he’s monetizing his toolness on purpose? Clueless. Maybe the clueless can relate and the rest of the people tune in to laugh and cringe. I watched the one where he got stuck in the mud. I was done with him after that

We just want raw video's of the truck. And sometimes the best content comes from those who don't know what they're doing. I'm trying to find more raw video's of the platinum trim. I'm interested in how the aesthetics appear undoctored or not under professional settings

Of course not. And no one is bothered by the fact that it doesn't "sound" like a V8, because we care more about performance than VROOM-VROOM!! What are we, 2?

honestly, other than when I have to tow the camper, I don’t need much performance, but like the hell out of the V8 vroom vroom. I could care less about the 0-60mph times. Just needs to be able to get out of its own way when merging in traffic. All these performance metrics people pour over when comparing trucks are laughable. I like that the companies push each other to make better trucks. But at some point, we’re just mindlessly chasing a meaningless metric. All the new trucks perform well. I want a Tundra, cause I want a Tundra. Doesn’t have to be #1 in every category or it’s a piece of crap. But it’s good content. Something to watch on YouTube I guess

You should really look into lighter wheels than Fuel... they are anchors. Icon, method, Motegi, FN, SCS are all considerably lighter and will help offset the big tires considerably.

He went from 265/70R18 stock Michelins LTX Trails at 32.6” diameter and to 275/70R18 Geolandar M/T G003. The Michelin is 32.6” and the Geolandar is 33.2”. That’s a only 1.8% difference in circumference, but the weight difference is 25lb per tire (37lb vs 62lb). That’s a significant increase in unsprung weight.

Back to tire diameter: we can correct his dash readout by adding 1.8% to 15.8mpg to get 16.1mpg. Not sure how accurate his dash is, but my ‘21 is always really close.

I think it’s interesting that the stock tires on the 3rd gen are 10mm narrower and 4lb lighter than the 2nd gen’s stock tires.
Yep, lift/level has a bigger effect than most people think. Even if you keep the same tires.
