I don't have any data that says otherwise but you would think Mobil 1 would be plastered all over the service center if they use it.
A safe bet would be a cheap bulk full synthetic that meets specs, it would save Toyota millions every year.
    Thanks for the laugh! :fistbump:

Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic every 5k or so. About every 30-40k dump a quart of ATF in the crankcase and drive it for 30 minutes before the oil change. The added ATF detergents will keep varnish build up to a minimum without any risks. As for neglect, many have mentioned the transmission, but unfortunately many people neglect cooling system maintenance and that's a big mistake which can be catastrophic. Long story short, don't prioritize engine oil over any other maintenance.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    agreed.

however, today's oil detergent additives accomplish this more safely.

using M1, i always had a clean dipstick.

    Kirkland's does the same.

As in life, keep your dipstick as clean as possible....if it has tarnish on it, you are using the wrong lube.

    Life is good.

There are numerous threads on this.

The only consensus is use synthetic, and 5W30 if you're not in a cold climate.

I'm an Amsoil fan, and change around 5,000 miles.

I have a family member who's a Toyota Master Mechanic. He says that Amsoil is the best oil out there, and I have no reason to doubt him.

I was on the road yesterday here in southern AZ and the ambient temperature ranged anywhere from 99F to 108F. I'm happy to use what appears to be the best oil out there in this harsh environment!

You do you, but. Still overpriced for a benefit you will never see. Sorry but there has never been a long term study that I know of that shows that a more expensive oil will make an engine last longer. The million mile tundras have had dealer oil in it, so. Stick to what ever is on sale boys and girls.

Holy Fack. No way can I read all that. I read some parts and saw Quaker state mentioned. Along with Mobil and Castrol. I stick to what’s on sale and move on. ALL oils nowadays are good and not 1 single oil out there will prevent a manufacturing defect of a bearing, pin, oil pump, etc.

Buy the cheapest oil and change it regularly. I’ve said it before the best oil is clean oil.

There are your Autoparts store oils, and then there is NEO SYNTHETICS . The most advanced and highest quality oil available for your Tundra. Buy 5w30 and you’ll ever go back. It’s a 5.7 Liter V8 5/20 isn’t cutting it especially if you are charging your tires and gears. Running the engine at higher RPM range to get the most power out of the Transmission range. If you get 35” tire go 5.13 or 5.29 gears and you’ll get the most out of your motor. Neo synthetic is hands down the best.

Does it come with a blue and red pill? This way we can choose what our trucks can do, Baja or Formula 1

    Gang,
Y'know what worries me? Engine might last a million miles, but it's all the other stuff around it that costs thousands that will start falling off regardless of oil used.

Maybe you need better suspension? :)

Transmission and engine are the two most costly items...

Gang, I just had engine electrical harness replaced. The harness cost 5000 and labor was 2000.

Your engine and transmission won't get you anywhere if you can't start it.

The forum should just put one “what oil” thread as a sticky at the top of the page.

Do allow folks to say what oil they use and/or post used oil analysis. Mods should delete meaningless posts where someone comes in and says “canola oil” or something like that.

As for me I currently have TGMO 0w20 in my sump. I usually alternate between Mobil 1, Amsoil signature, or Valvoline and my used oil analysis show basically zero differences between the 3.
