I was with you until you got to pop tart but maybe I just love sandwiches and sandwich-like foods too much.

I fully support ketchup on Kraft mac-n-cheese; it's delicious. :thumbsup:Not so much on real mac-n-cheese.

Did that same thing Saturday for dinner. Camp cooking is great, especially on old cast iron. Eggs, bacon, and beans. FWIW there is only one condiment I rarely use if ever....ketchup. Had a friend who owned a fried chicken place. I was there one time when a customer asked where the ketchup was. My friend almost showed the customer the door which would have been proper in my book. A hot dog in a bun is simply that but who knows, nowadays it can apparently identify as to whatever it wants.

It would be more of a tamale than a burrito.

The first ingredient on my BBQ sauce is water but the next 3 are essentially ketchup (tomato paste, sugar, vinegar).

I'm 2nd gen, but I agree. It's a hot dog, neither sandwich nor taco. A hamburger is not a sandwich either. Cooked meat between bread doesn't make a sandwich. Except pastrami or corned beef, those are heaven.

Well, also, if you eat your hot dog or hamburger on bread, it could mean your parents are cheap (or had no idea what to make for dinner).

They weren't cheap, we were poor. We had buns for special occasions like family get-togethers, but usually it was bread or nothing. I still eat them without bread or bun, and mix horseradish sauce and mustard as a dip. Way back when, it was just mustard.

I was going to say "poor" because that's what we were but I thought "cheap" was less inflammatory.

Well we have them, they’re just probably not as hot, on account of the lower quality tar sand oil (inferior cooking qualities) and metric system mostly.

I still give my kid a hotdog even when I know we are out of proper hot dog buns ... I just toss it on a piece of white bread. When I grew up, any bread around a hot-dog would suffice. Weird part is he's never complained and just eats it :D

Hell I still do this myself. Usually run out of hotdog buns but have brats or dogs left over. Instead of going to the store just use bread. Sometimes I just cut a couple in half and make a sandwich out of them too instead of wrapped bread around them.

Well what about a Philly cheesesteak? Is that a sandwich?

If yes, thats not far from a burger. Chipped beef vs ground beef really.

I still like using that end piece of bread as a hot dog bun. For burgers as long as the bread is toasted or grilled it is never a bad thing, patty melt style.
