I had a local shop install PPF on on the front fenders, hood, front including headlights, rockers all the way to the back, and rear flares. 12 year warranty, self healing and it cleans up easily. Rest of the truck is coated with a 5+ year ceramic coating. My previous truck had so many paint chips in the front from highway miles it was ridiculous.

Remember that ceramic is only going to hold itself if properly maintained with proper washes.

My truck gets washed weekly, and every few washes I top with an SiO2 topper. Every 5k the wheels get thoroughly cleaned when I remove them for rotation. When filling up the gas tank I wipe down the underside of the hood and engine compartment with waterless wash. Lol

Ya, but with a true ceramic, it wont have much effect, imo with layering on top.

Can’t hurt it, but it won’t layer as ceramic adheres to the paint to reject materials off of it

My 2020 came with it on the hood from the dealer. I can say so far it still looks great and no rock chips. My Silverado previous had probably 15 chips in front of hood (no film)

Use Griots exclusively on my 4 vehicles and boat . Annually Strip + Complete Polish + Ceramic coat, Do all glass except windshield. Wash weekly with Griots spray foam cannon. Never add any wax because consumer Ceramic runs a year

This is what I mentioned in post #60. Took a couple pics today after getting the truck serviced. Truck is 2019.

I cant imagine ppf that is applied properly and is a descent brand would do that as long as its maintained properly. Were both cars done at the same place?

I guess you have no info other than it failed based on your previous post.

That seems really weird to me. I've never seen that kind of thing before. I would definitely remove it and hope the paint underneath can be brought back around.

Yes, I’ll rip that shit off:D Likely start on it soon.
Actually, you have to be careful removing it so you don’t damage the paint. Gentle use of a heat gun and a plastic scraper gets the film and hopefully most of the adhesive off. Some techniques of ripping that shit off work better than others relative to the adhesive coming off with the film or remaining on the paint. Pulling it back on itself seems to bring more adhesive with the film.
Once you get all the film off, use a specialized solvent to get the remaining adhesive. Polish. Seal. Wax.
Wife’s MDX took about 12 hours and that was a much smaller hood. Hers had been on ~10 years, so end of its life and brittle. I’m hoping this peels better since it’s only 5 years old.
I was at the dealership yesterday where the truck was originally sold and showed it to the service writer. He stated that the film would have been put on by southeast Toyota distribution and new cars on the lot all had it as part of their option package prior to delivery to the dealer. I checked out a few Tundras, Land Crusiers, 4Runners and a Sequoia and they all had the film.
