Sounds good. curious to see how it comes out. I imagine you have to add a lip so it will "hang" in the hole you cut into the trim and secure it some how on the backside. I was originally just going to try to take your design and make it work by adding a lip and using glue. But after thinking about it, probably better to just get another piece if im going to be cutting it up. It cost me more but I could always try to sell the platinum piece or stash it in case one day, i want to revert it all back or something.

I'm actually curious to see how the black leather looks in my interior.
And yes, the design is essentially the same top footprint but with a reduced (and vertical sided) body to form a lip that will go through a smaller hole.

add a few adult beverages in the mix and sounds like a good time... hopefully your daughter is mobile enough to hang out with you for a bit, change of scenery would be good for her mentally even if it is briefly

She’s hell bent to get off the narcotics ASAP. She actually wants to go to the boyfriend’s tomorrow to hang and watch Supercross opening weekend. My wife is doing a powerlifting meet tomorrow, and I’m watching my niece and nephew while my BIL and his wife take their oldest to Vegas for her 21st birthday.

and yes - I’ve had my first adult beverage in over a week tonight. Or a few of them. Been a long 11 days.

So glad to hear of the progress with your daughter. Hopefully she is comfortable and I'm sure she is glad to be home! I didn't realize ypu had a powerlifting mrs at home. I dealt with that for a few years myself. I was good with it until Mrs slinger got a bit scary and we had to weigh all our food. Lol! Happy to see the updates Casey. Hope you are holding up as well!

This one is more of a “mock meet” - her coach’s wife is a pretty bad-ass power lifter (holds a couple records for her age and weight class). For the most part she’s just a long-distance hiker that likes to stay in shape.

She’s mostly resting and sleeping. Keeping the pain as low as possible, but she’s a trooper and is trying to go longer between doses. She’s been able to get up and move around a little, get to the bathroom on her own. She has to use a walker but strength is improving in her legs - she’s been able to maneuver the stairs a couple times but very slowly with a break on the landing. Her first PT appointment is in two weeks… just rest and recovery until then.

Her bf went in for an MRI yesterday on his left knee - it looks like he has a grapefruit growing on the inside of it and he can’t bear any weight on it or straighten it. He goes in Monday morning for surgery to have his humerus pinned. He’s stuck at his house and doing the best he can to be comfortable until the arm is finally set correctly.

    @RainMan_PNW

Ok, so reference this center console insert idea... :annoyed:

I did not notice that it (that Amazon part) was hinged w/a lid to function as a storage area (either way this thing is pretty much a piece of junk).

However, template wise, it does accomplish what I was after which is filling in that space. Casey, so my question to you is this...

If I was to send this thing to you, would it make fabricating a sturdy, non-hinged, non-opening, able to support a 100lb dog standing on it :anonymous: version of this insert easier to accomplish on your end??

I'd assume it would at least give you a template and a place to start for scanning it into a printable file :notsure: ( I really know nothing about this stuff just guessing here)

I'm thinking thicker plastic across the center section w/maybe some kind of supporting 'X or +' that would sit on top of the plastic part of the factory cutout (in addition to the part that sits around the perimeter); maybe 2 center supports!? The exposed surface of this would be perfect if finished the way you did your switch plates (black slight textured finish), as that would give some traction to the pups and not require it to be finished in leather....

Here are a couple photos of it so you have an idea of what the piece looks like that was sent to me.

Let me know what you think, and if you'd like, I'll ship it up to you this week

Again, no rush or obligation either way (even if you get the piece and decide it's too much of a pain in the ass or too costly to design/build). I do think there would be somewhat of a market for them. I can't imagine I'm the only one that prefers the solid design on the top of the console like we had in our earlier tundras and the 2nd gen sequoias.

Does it attach with VHB foam tape? geez...

Having it as a pattern certainly wouldn't hurt, and would make getting some measurements and curves easier to "extract"

Still waiting on the next delivery of material CPE+ and the Platinum shifter trim. I have been prototyping some ideas for the Platinum shifter trim (greatly reducing the size of the overall "bezel" around the switches) as well as a single-switch bezel that could be cut in just about anywhere with a flat spot and enough space behind it. I've also been testing some prints in ABS, which is easier to use some glues on depending on how I come up with for a way to retain these newer designs. The majority of the truck interior plastic is ABS as well.

I've got a can of SEM Trim Black on the way as well as parts to make a small indoor airbrush/spray booth. When I tried spraying the ABS parts with the matte enamel, they actually ended up more glossy so I'm going to test the Trim Black as well and see what I like better for final results (still keeping the same textured surface finish).
    IMG_0834.jpg

Also - STICKERS are in. I'll work on getting them out to people that have already had their orders shipped, and any new order will get one thrown in.
