They're welded to the rear axle and the bushings bolt into the mounts. Then there's mounts bolted on the frame for the links to bolt to.

I question those results only because we have leaf spring rears. So I can't help but question whether or not that even applies to us. Apples to oranges and all.

@Voss had the helwig rear on his 4x4 and removed it.

I have no sway bars on my 4x4 and both front and rear on my street queen.

Interesting how different the helwig orientation is from the TRD. I always thought the main difference was the way it mounted to the axle and the thickness of the bar itself. But looked tlike the helwig end links go to the front of the diff, to the frame. Where as the TRD end links bolt the the rear of the diff, to the frame.

I would like to try a rear sway bar myself. Several members have said it's one of the best mods they have done. Sadly the Hellwig has almost doubled in price.

I purchased an ADDCO rear sway bar two and a half months ago. It still hasn’t arrived.

When I called ADDCO directly (numerous times before getting a response) they told me that one of the OEMs they worked for had just pulled out of a contract and they were really scrambling.

It’s actually arriving tomorrow, but still. It shouldn’t have taken that long. It’ll likely be another 4-5 weeks before I can install it, so I won’t easily be able to give y’all a good review for y’all, but just keep that in mind before you order one.

Do you still have yours or did you sell it? Does the Hellwig bolt up without having to drill the frame?

It's on the access cab I sold to my nephew. He still has it. No drilling required, install was really easy.

If he was local to me, I'd borrow it for a day and drive it with and without the rear sway bar.

Thanks! Are the brackets where the end links attach to the frame already on the frame or did you have to add those also?

I added those. Just some 3/16" flat bar with a hole drilled through it welded to the frame.

Video has me wondering about whether not to give the front removal a try and see how she drives. *If not considering adding a rear - perhaps front removal isn't so bad.

It's fine if you have decent coilovers. I wouldn't do it if you're stock. Honestly I wouldn't even do it on a DD unless you have 700lb coil springs

I've got 6112's that are fresh with the stock 650lb.

    Have you been rolling w/out?

I thought 700lbs was recommended for a DC. Might be ok to run without but I'm not going to say it is or isn't. If you had the 700lbers I'd say do it .
I been without sway bars for like a year now on 700lb Kings in my fully armored AC

Thanks everyone for the help in figuring out how the stock bar attaches to the frame. I ended up going the Hellwig route. It was impossible to find a OE rear bar on EB or anywhere. The ones that did list the rear bar ended up sending me the front bar, multiple times. So if anyone wants a 27mm front bar for a first gen let me know :)
