Hell no. Just sitting on the front porch twiddling our thumbs impatiently awaiting on the arrival. I did get a call from the dealer saying to 13th-20th date is now the 23rd-27th. Awaiting on truck drivers it seems. Once it gets here I have to get some miles on it, get the rear seats out and make a bed for the old Lab, make steps for said pooch to get in, figure out bed storage, find a place for the trailer cam monitor, program the ScanGauge and get the new WDH on and tweaked. All before Oct 2nd, our planned departure date for a month camping.

Agreed. Hands down the best cases I’ve ever used are pelicans. In production Peli’s are the standard. I did just learn from a friend the other day that they make a line with quick release for truck beds. I need to dig those up.

I used the cheap containers at Walmart with the snap on lids. Usually use for Christmas decorations. If its just a one time thing or to use on vacation the work perfect. the key is stretch wrap around it to ensure lid stays on. I have driven through tropical storms, hours of rain and everything inside is bone dry. Again super cheap and if only once or twice a year their stackable. Not saying they are as good as pelican but for $6.99 a container pretty cheap....

Stretch wrap can be bought at Walmart and it is CHEAP and works fantastic for securing anything.

Yeah, No. not in place of a Rubbermaid. I mean just in general. Pelican truck cases must be the most insane pro set up for a truck bed….

Lowes special here, carries everything I need. I didn't even strap it in, the weight and bedliner keep it in place, unless you drive like Al Unser.

@CallsignKodiak explained the most practical way, since this Toyota dealer trifold is surprisingly dry, at least so far.

    You get your truck yet?

I pulled on if these down from the shop rafters and may try to mount it in the bed. Possible issues include being hard to access, takes up too much space and more. But, it can be built on an elevated rack to allow storage underneath. I'm really limited weight wise with my intended rig so every pound counts.

No, but I know the truck arrived in Kansas City early last week. Waiting on a vehicle transport – driver shortages I'm told. <twiddles thumbs>

This wait wouldn't suck so bad if my current daily driver was in better shape, but I don't want to dump more money into it.

This is what I ended up with. The Swiss Cargo top box can be mounted with 14" clearance or on the floor of the bed. The 14" clearance allows my cooler and Coleman camp grill to fit underneath. The dog steps and milk crate containing trailer tongue blocks also fit.20210927_101833.jpg

Anyone using these for bed storage? I think I'll pick one up to try out since I have other RIDGID boxes that will lock on top. I'm all about modularity & having a system + flexibility, best that I can.

I really like systems. Those big Plano boxes and Rubbermaid totes are awesome, but I can't make a system very well out of a bunch of them.

Give me an assortment of boxes from one of these...
    • RIDGID Pro Box
    • Milwaukee PACKOUT
    • DeWalt ToughBox
...and I have a SYSTEM of modular, interchangeable storage boxes that stack & lock together for secure and weatherproof transport.

100% TRUTH on stretch wrap. Long trip, WRAP IT ALL. Cheapest & most effective weatherproofing you can buy for totes, boxes, toolboxes, milk crates...anything really.

Now, where do we buy it CHEAPEST? Harbor Freight? Walmart? Gonna have to look...

Then there's these beauties that big box stores & c-stores use for product transport & storage. I know you can buy them online and they work great for bed storage, but they don't lock together & not weatherproof.

IMHO what is your end goal when you get to your destination. Do you want containers that can be easily moved with wheels or are you looking to just keep things dry during transport? I’m a big fan of Rigid tools and their boxes.

Are any of these boxes safe to leave in back? maybe locked up and secured to the bed with a bike lock?

I have a soft top (and love it) and want to put all my dewalt hand tools in back.

    thanks in advance!

Love the Planos. Highly functional but not so expensive you have to worry about them being stolen. Mine stays under my locking TCUSA cover anyway. Like you, I have the 1919 trunk. I like that it has an unbroken channel in the lid for you to add weatherstripping if you want.
