I mounted mine on a a RAM mount I got from Amazon, put it on the access handle since I don't have side airbag there's no danger on killing me if the driver's air bag deploys. I ran the OBD cable behind the dash board and trim. Is it worth it?, if you need it obviously it is, and I did need it because I did a full tranny fluid change (not a power flush) and wanted to keep my eye on the tranny's temp after the change. I also use the mount for my phone when not using the scangauge, that's why you'll see two different cables there

I ended up using an old Samsung Note 4 phone with the torque app. Big enough to see the dials and small enough that I don’t have a tablet taking up massive real estate. I only use it for road trips and when I’m pulling a TT though. Just got a magnetic car vent mount for it.

I’ve had both....I like SG2 better. I have it installed with the Blendmount on rear view mirror.

I've had my Scanguage for years long before there were "apps".
I have it in my 2006 Tundra and set it up for trans temp. I have no idea where I found the info to set it up.

Which torque app is that? I see several in the Play store... Also, what BT OBD unit are you using?

    Thanks!

Torque Pro (OBD 2 & Car) app is $2.00 or $5.00 I believe. Only available on the Android. - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.prowl.torque&hl=en_US

I recently used my UltraGauge while towing.

What transmission temps do you see? Mine were between 170 degrees and 230 degrees while towing on long inclines in 90+ degree weather.

What torque values do you see? I'm getting 270 lb-ft at 5000 feet elevation and 230 lb-ft at 10,000 feet elevation.

Are you able to get separate trans pan and trans temps on a 1st gen?

yes, one is the torque converter temp and one is the trans pan...
Those are for Torque Pro app but hopefully you can use them or someone can chime in for the UG solution

Thanks for confirming. I was able to configure UltraGauge to show what seem to be the Trans Pan and and Trans Torque Converter temps.

Any updates or further thoughts on this? My birthday is around the corner and was thinking about getting the new ScanGuard 3 ($250) or the Ultra Gauge ($100). Any recommendations?

Stock, with a few cosmetic mods.
SGII for me, set up with 3 pgs. of data with 6 parameters per screen. More than enough, but disappointed in no oil pressure, but that’s a Toyota thing, not SG.

Thanks. SG2 looks pretty legit. I like the bigger screen of the SG3 but not for an extra $100.

If you don’t use your ashtray, you can get a ScanGauge 2 mount that replaces it. Works very well as the OBDII port is so close.

Oh heck yeah! I was just looking on Thinginverse for a solution a week or so ago and did not see this one. Gonna print one this weekend!

Kudos to the designer! Great idea, simple, easy to print, and well executed. If you’re on here, nice job!IMG_6282.jpg

If you don't have a printer can the mount be purchased?

There are companies/services that will do 3D printing for you. Usually it’s not too expensive, just send them the file and they can often get you a quote. Make sure you get it printed out of PETG instead of the typical PLA, as PLA will warp in the heat.

I’ve not seen this particular mount for sale. It’s possible someone may have something like this (or even this one?) on Etsy?

I could probably print one for you for cost of printer time and materials since this is fairly simple and was about 6.5 hrs to print. I would clearly not charge for the design since someone else designed it and provided it for free.

Note that this is printed in PETG (not PLA) so is resistant to warping in summer heat.

I’m out of town this week but can weigh it when I get back and go from there. If you’re interested send me a PM through the forum and I’ll get back to you this weekend.

As it turns out I can't use the mount because I can't remove the ash tray due to it hitting the radio mounted over the hump. So I velcroed it to the radio. Not a perfect solution but it works.

Someone posted the image below in an earlier thread so I thought I'd give it a try on my 01 and I can tell you it worked for me. So if anyone has an early ISO protocol FGT give it a try.
