Thank you! Do you have the part number for the Land Cruiser bolt and washer set that you mentioned at the bottom of the reply?

It's in the parts list of the reply I linked.

Okay great, thank you. When I looked that up it just said bolt so I wasn’t sure if I was missing something. I appreciate your help!

Yeah, Toyota's descriptions on some of these parts is miserable... Just make sure you note the red asterisk. You have a 2000, so your left/right valve cover gaskets will be the ones in the single-asterisk note.

IMG_0185.jpg IMG_0186.jpg Sorry to come back to this, but just got the parts in from Toyota and I don’t think I ordered the right part. I plugged in the VIN to the parts site and this was on the list, but it looks different than my current LBJs and also doesn’t list whether it’s the driver or passenger side. Just says “joint set, ft lower”.

Maybe it’s just my local dealers site that’s incredibly unhelpful. Vague descriptions, no pictures, looking up a specific part number gives me nothing other than “product suggestions” of similar parts with different numbers.

@shifty` After plugging my VIN into my local dealer’s part site, these are the only options I get for lower ball joints. None seem to match the part numbers from other sites exactly and when I look these numbers up on other sites, it doesn’t appear to be the full ball joint assembly. I am used to them looking like this last photo, but I can’t find one like this on my local dealers site.
Am I missing something? Feels like I’m going crazy with part #s. Luckily the castle nut and bolts were all right.

lol, I knew something had to be wrong. Just returned it back to the dealership and got, what I believe, are the correct parts by cross referencing the part number with a much more helpful dealership site. Fingers crossed.

I don't understand. All the part numbers are in the LBJ sticky thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/lower-ball-joints-part-numbers.97100/

For your 2000, the part numbers should be:

    Passenger LBJ - 43330-39465 (newest. p/n is 43330-39466)
    Driver LBJ - 43340-39355 (newest. p/n is 43340-39356)

Bolts (you need 8 total): 90080-10066 (torque to 59ftlb, this is a single use bolt supposedly)

Alternate bolts (need 8 total): Buy the stronger ARP's part number 663-1004 (@NickB_01TRD maybe knows the torque for these, he's where I got that last part number so don't quote me on that bolt ... but the LBJ should be 100% correct)
Those come with castle nut and cotter, and the parts site won't let me pull a boot (it says 'not applicable') so the LBJ must

I looked through that thread and could not find them for the 2000. It sounds like I may have just missed it completely. Luckily, what you listed is what I ordered just now, so I shouldn’t be good moving forward. Thank you again for your help with all this. Sharing your wisdom and experience is something many here, including myself, would be lost without.

Weird, lemme pop back over into the LBJ thread and I'll plug it in.

Ok, just updated the part infos in my 1st reply (#17) in that thread to include '00 joints.

May have gotten myself into too big of a mess to fix here, but the LBJ wouldn’t pop out. Used the puller, the hooks were too narrow and it would keep sliding off on one side, used a 3 lb hammer to shock the sides and bolt, no luck. Used heat around the bolt and knuckle, nothing. Thought using a sawsall to cut off the top of the LBJ would help me hammer it down from the top, but no luck. Any ideas now? Is drilling it out the only option?

You're going to have to hammer/ press it up, you won't be able to hammer it out downwards without damaging the LCA. There's a taper to the LBJ stud that as it fits into the LCA hole.

You might have luck with a strong c-clamp you can use an impact on, and a large socket that's bigger in diameter than the sheared ball on top.

You could also try this with this loaner tool from Autozone

That's what I was going to say. Get a ball joint press kit from the LAPS. Put a cup on top and the arbor/driver on the bottom.

Hopefully it'll clear everything. Without the ball on the spindle, the stud shouldn't move around too much.

Thank you so much for your help. This got it off on the passenger side. Driver side is being more stubborn even with the press. It has to pop eventually like the first one did.

Job complete! Finally got that drivers side LBJ to push through using that tool. Thank you all so much for your help. Valve cover gaskets next!

Sometimes putting the press under tension, then whacking the outer "ring" of the LCA (the LBJ spindle goes into) will cause it to release. While I never got it to release on its own whacking anything on my 1st gen, with tension on the ball spindle, I'm sure it'd pop.

On the driver's side, don't hesitate to bust out zip ties or bungees to hold the fuel/EVAP lines out of your way. Helped a ton for me.
