I really need to do a better job keeping this thread updated. I had a little while today while the plasma table was running to knock out a set of ditch light brackets. I am going to try to find a way to mount up a set of Rigid 6" lights that have been sitting in the back of the shop forever instead of buying new lights for now.

What's up JW. Didn't take long to make it over here. You need to swing by the shop so I can check out your new tundra.

I've been doing a lot of research for the Tundra and ran across your build, it looks amazing. I've got fresh suspension, bushings, shackles and tires ordered. I'll definitely swing by the shop and catch up with you soon.

@STravis nice build. Your prior Tacoma was super nice also. Sorry in advance for the de-rail, but @n0rth, is this you from TW? If so that was an awesome build.

I got the ditch light brackets finalized today and built some brackets to mount up the Rigid 6" light bars. The mounts turned out good, but the light output is not great, so I will be swapping them out with baja designs squadrons or xl sports some time in the future.

    Badass build, great work!

Are you going to stick with 37x11.5's, and did you feel that you needed 11.5 vs 12 or 13.5 for clearance?

The reason I ended up with these tires is because a buddy of mine was getting rid of them and I got a great deal.
I think my next tires will be 12.50's. These are the only 11.5 wide tire in a 37 and they are only d rated, and I definitely need e rated for what my truck weighs. I may also ditch the SCS wheels in favor of it 17's for more tire choices. I wish SCS made a 17 for the tundras.

As far as clearance goes, I could make 13.5's work with the 25mm offset on these wheels. I didn't have to get very aggressive with clearancing to make these fit so there is still some room to work with.

Thanks bud. I have +25 and once my 35's get worn out more I plan to bump to 37's, just undecided on width.

There is a really good thread in here about fitting 37's. Tons of info there for getting them to fit.

Have I seen your truck around Ruidoso before?

I should fit all 3 sizes, just trying to weigh the options in my head haha

If it was a couple of weeks ago, then yes. We rode through the guadalupe mountains, then through the sacramento sector and up to Ruidoso.

    Sweet, small world.

I'm thinking about driving the 54 route to Santa Fe when we head up there in a couple of weeks. Love the area, and it sure beats driving through the nothingness of Roswell!

We went out for a little drive today to mess around a bit. We ended up finding some snow on the north side of this pass. It wasn't much snow, but there was a sheet of ice under it and we couldn't get traction to climb out. We ended up having to do quite a bit of winching. We carry a tree saver and a couple sections of old winch line that I spliced some eyes into to extend our line that saved us today. We were 20' short of a good anchor on our second pull that we were able to use the old winch line to reach.

Also got a picture of the tundra in the same spot we got one of the Tacoma a couple years ago.

Don't know how i missed this build. Easily one of my favorite Tundras. Your fab skills are excellent too, very interested in that rear bumper.

@STravis have you weighted the truck with all the armor and camper with bed build out?

Also do you think it’s possible to do a full swing out for your rear bumper? I’d be interested in ordering if you could.

I have weighed it, the truck is super heavy. I can't remember the number off the top of my head, but I'll try to find the weight sheet. My rear leaf springs are 1,800 lbs over stock capacity.

We can do a full width single swingout, but we try to avoid doing that because you can get a ton of weight out far away from the hinge when the swingout is open.

We could definitely make that happen. We could even do the install for you. I need to make an install video for the rear bumpers anyways.

Spit balling here but would a telescopic pole at the end help with the weight? An idea. I really want a high clearance full swing out with a drop down table.

    Hey Edsel,
I'm not too sure if you have considered it or not but a full swing can also be cumbersome in the amount of space you need behind the Tundra to open the swing and the tailgate. Just something to consider?

The telescoping pole would be a good idea if it was open long term, but the hinge and swingout will support it just fine. It's just a ton of weight on a long lever depending on how it's loaded.

Also, as @TOYOTARIG said, it takes a large amount of room to open behind the vehicle.

That being said, we can build it and if you would like to discuss options you can send me a pm.

They are the sunpower panels that AT overland offers. They are adhesive backed and rated at 170 watts each.
