It was my front runner as I didn’t really “need” a truck, but I wanted to be able to off-road if I got one. TFL truck tested one off-road and i think the tranny overheated super early into the trail. If you don’t need the extra power, size, clearance they honestly are fantastic. Ride really well, get much better mileage, and have some handy features.

I guess I'm not as closed minded as everyone else here. If you want a Ridgeline, get one. It's probably as overpriced as a Tacoma but more comfortable inside with more features. The storage below the bed, nearly flat bed and two way tailgate are great.

    Appearance doesn't matter.

I had a ridgeline for about 4 years. I replaced it with my tundra. It was a great vehicle. It got decent mileage, road great and had a lot of storage. The truck was incredibly useful. It is not an off road machine. The vtm4 awd mechanism works well in foul weather. They are easy to service.

Can't help but jump into this thread! :burp:

Are you transitioning to the handy man business to go full time or just a side gig? If it's eventually full time then the van idea would be a decent move for reasons already said.

Gas mpg is going to be a tough code to crack in a construction business. Unless you look at a ram promaster diesel on lease, cuz you don't want to own one of those piles.

Oh, and one more vote against the Ridgeline.;)

We have a 2012 pilot. The motor is absolutely gutless. The torque management software makes it feel like a 4 banger. It is horrific. We test drove the highlander at the time, which felt like a rocket ship in comparison.

My 5.7 tundra gets 14.5 city 19 highway.

our pilot gets 16 city 20 highway.

You should go and get your old Tundra back, tell the owner you made a big mistake. Or just wait for the 4th Gen Tundra, it's sure to check all the boxes. :D

This should be enough to talk you out of it..
Especially since you don't like the way it looks..

As others have mentioned, I'd look into a 4-Runner.

    I had a 1997 4X4 4-Runner and it was great.
    Raised 2 kids in it.

Traded it in on a 2005 Tundra.
Traded that in on a 2014 Tundra..

I'd never want to be without a 'real' truck bed, but that is just me..

Well, not sure where the "handyman man" stuff comes from - deleted comment or some kind of joke? What I think is most funny - all the comments about how bad the Ridgeline looks... meanwhile everyone's changing the look of their tundra because they don't like the chrome, wheels, headlights, running boards, exhaust, etc. I think @shhernandez74 could make a Ridgeline look a little better with some mods. They do look better with a canopy for starters.

You won't be allowed in TRUCK GANG!

And Honda motors still need valve adjustments occasionally. That's just weird.

Between the two trucks you picked out, get a Tacoma. If you don't plan on doing truck stuff with it, get a 4 banger, they are bulletproof.

If you want to do truck stuff, get another Tundra.

I daily drive my tundra and I love it, it’s paid off and would not trade it for anything else even the new tundra coming soon. You’re an accountant so you should be familiar with a budget, use that and enjoy the tundra, get a 2wd one if you don’t off-road or drive in bad weather conditions. Yes it sucks gas like an amateur prostitute but I love it.

Can’t compare a Tundra to a Ridgeline 2 different animals but the 21 Ridgeline is very nice for your light stuff the 21 Ridgeline is nothing like the old Ridgeline my Cowerker just got one and I have to say it’s very nice mini truck that 3.5L is a very good engine great MPG a lot of cargo space and all the bells and whistles you need not a bad vehicle at all I’m a Toyota/Honda guy both good choices

@773_eddie thats a good streak. My 06 Element got a bad valve from never adjusting. Had to swap the motor out recently.

This is a fair point. We had an Acura MDX with the 3.5L and it got 16-18MPG running premium which $/mile is worse than a stock Tundra.

Don't do it man, the only cool thing about a ridgeline is the little cooler thingy under the bed.

People love to rag on the Ridgeline but it’s a good truck for what it is. I love my Tundra but I drove a Ridgeline for 10 years. Put 270k miles on it with no major repairs. This included a lot of towing a box cargo trailer all over the country for years. It’s not a Tundra but it’s decent.

Ive had a Tacoma and now drive a Tundra. Id pick Ridgeline over Tacoma because of how awful the ride quality was in the Tacoma. The 5’ bed was awful, and it was embarrassing when I was helping people move as I could fit less than a large SUV. Both Ridgeline Nd Tacoma are midsize trucks. Personally, I cant stand sitting in one or see it parked next to the full size. Wait for the 2022 Tundra and buy it - better mpg, new design etc. I dont use my Tundra for anything truck related as I work for a hospital, but I love driving it - quiet ride, soft suspension, plenty of room. More importantly, my wife loves being in the passenger seat and doesnt get car sick in the truck.

I think a lot of it has to do with its looks, I could be wrong, but look at it this way, it still looks better than an Aztec.
