Can I get that email address, I too would like to add my concerns to the list as mine just broke too and they sound like they will not replace it under warranty.

Mine broke a couple weeks go but I have yet to find the time to go into the dealer. Blows my mind a 60k truck has such poor build quality it is breaking in 5 months.

This issue actually caused me to rush an order for running boards so I could "land" in the middle of the seat rather than sliding over the edge. I tried to explain it to my wife as more of a helicopter landing rather than a carrier landing.

Day one with the TRD Pro (10.11.22) and I get home to find a big divot in the seat cushion. Brought back to dealer and they had to replace the bottom seat cushion as there was a material defect.

I've been careful getting in and out of the truck as I don't want my panel to crack, but today I got in, sat down, heard a crack, and found that the mount for the panel is cracked. Pretty flimsy plastic holding the panel on. Will take to dealer next week and hope for a no hassle repair. Will update if any issues arise.

Same issue (cracked plastic) on my 23. Was hoping they fixed it. Made it 10k miles.

This is a long term Tundra issue. The exact same thing happened with my 2013 TRD Off Road about 1.5 years in to ownership.

I have been wanting to buy a seat cushion not only to protect the seat but wear and tear. Something like this bit I'm not sure if it will work or someone has something similar.

The 1794 has 10 way adjustment, a Toyota marketing statement. Basically means has adjustable lumbar...two additional buttons to the rear of the buttons I see in your picture. I think earlier in this thread there was some discussion that different trim levels might have had different mechanics thus potentially different crack succeptability. Not sure how much of that ended up being correct so don't quote me on that part

On this site when I first joined last fall most failure pics were manual seats. Some hope it was just a manual seats problem which is obviously been disproven.

Follow-up. Dealer replaced the panel and said nothing about the repair. When I picked up the vehicle however, the service ticket says "replaced as a one-time goodwill gesture." So they replace the seat in Oct/Nov due to material defect, put the trim piece on loosely, which broke, then they fixed it as a goodwill gesture? Gimme a break!

I like on Fb when the cuckolds will blame how people get in and out of the truck vs an absolute shit part. If you’re supposed lift yourself out and use running boards the fucking truck should have came standard with them like optioned F150’s.

Toyota said theyd accept defective parts for production. Could this be a factor?

Just curious if we are also seeing failures with the passenger side? I understand that the driver side sees more action but still curious.

Going back to 2005, I've had two 4Runners, and two Tundra's. Driver side broke on each vehicle at least once. Never seen it on the passenger side.

No issue with my passenger side. Just checked. Not a single crack. And the 5’4 fiancé definitely put pressure on it when she slides out the seat like it’s a slide. While I avoid putting pressure by pulling myself up by the grab handle and it still cracks. No holes like some others here have pics of but multiple line fractures from the panel flexing. No running boards with 35’s and leveled.

Sept 2022 when I first noticed it cracking. Dealer denied warranty saying it’s just scratches. Told them to press on it and they’ll see they are crack, dealer sent pics to Toyota and Toyota denied the warranty too. Wanted $300 to replace it. At that price I can get the part half the price and do it myself.
    upload_2023-6-22_8-45-43.jpg

Today June 2023. More cracks. Maybe they’ll warranty it now?

I'm starting to think that when the bean counters were made aware of the seat durability of the million-mile Tundra, their lightbulbs went off and viewed it as a cost-trimming opportunity.

Maybe the gram counters more than the bean counters. If everything was built with same metal and plastic thickness of older trucks plus the added weight of safety gear, off road gear, luxury features, huge wheels etc every 1500 would weigh 7000 lbs dry.

2023 with 1200 miles. I bought the truck less than a month ago and I’m only 180lbs. While researching issues with the 3rd gen extensively before buying I saw this was an issue so I’ve been very intentional in getting in/out and not sliding off the seat. Still happened. It’s not cracked all the way through but you can clearly see the stress in the plastic and I heard a definitive cracking noise when I happened.

This has happened 3x on my 2023 Tundra. Had it since November and I currently have it scheduled to go back in the dealer for repairs again.

Happened on my 20' platinum Tundra and 17' sequoia, lots of reports from both on this as well. They either need to add more clips OR find a better way to connect. On my sequoia I drilled and tapped the metal frame behind the plastic then drilled through the plastic and attached with black machine screws and rubber then fender washers. Doesn't look bad and it will never come off if I don't want it to.. Just make sure you drill with the panel off so you can make sure to keep the bit away from any of the wiring.
