Yeah, it's finicky. I also had to slide it to the "out" position cause as it comes, you can't get the screen all the way on. This one last screw is totally wasted, like I said I'll have to carefully drill it out. I'll swing by Ace and see if I can get a new one or I'll just run it with 3.

Successful Kenwood install! I ended up tapping the 12v line off one of my charger ports in the dash to run the cameras, they didn't like drawing power from the headunit. Only the +12V needed linking, the video signal grounds. Ended up doing the SXM tuner because, well, now it's in there and I don't need to go back in for anything ever. HDMI to switch plate is done and works, parking brake bypass works at the -12V ground tap at the headunit KEN1 adapter as pictured. All 4 cameras installed and happy, Maestro RR2 was an absolute bitch to try to flash via Bluetooth but a USB to PC link did everything instantly and I ziptied a USB cable under the driver's side for easy access. Done and done.

I think that there's only 1 thing I didn't get done: the middle button on the steering wheel. Usually that's a start/pause playback button - but it's not mapped and there's no option in the Maestro to do it, weird.

I’m getting my butt kicked on this thing.

Anybody doing this that has the FrAC harness installed? Do I need to uninstall all those harnesses? I can’t remember how any of that is installed.

Also, I have no idea how you guys crammed all of this wiring back in there. This Maestro dash kit doesn’t seem to fit right in my dash. And my USB adapter to the factory usb port doesn’t fit.

I left the screen at the height it was delivered at, and did not use the pocket piece from the kit. This allowed a lot of the wiring to fit above the head unit and you can’t see any of it unless you fold the screen down or really peek behind it.

Speaking of height adjustment, WTF are the black stickers that Alpine says you're supposed to put on after adjustment supposed to do?

They just clean it up a bit by covering the silver screws. And I think one set is a kind of bump stop for when you are adjusting the screen angle.

The Dasaita adapter I bought also fits a bit oddly and I'm still not convinced it shouldn't sit a little more flush at the top, but it's not moving either, both button 12mm bolts in place correctly.

Wiring - I removed the center speaker grille cover and speaker, and stuffed my fat ham mitt into the hole to pull back on the bundles of wiring and shove them to the sides. This worked ok, along with unclipping the main wiring bundle that goes above the radio and pushing that all the way to the back too.

yeah, you are best served with prepping vehicle harness to allow more flexibility where you can land the mating connectors.

As far as stashing the modules, I banded the maestro module with tesa tape and wedged it between the silver dash trim and the inner passenger air duct, did the same with the SXM tuner module on driver’s side…these steps will place the majority of the related bulk everywhere else other than behind the radio.

I kind of like that mic mount location.
I thought about trying to get the factory mic to work, but it looks like it's more work than I feel like messing with right now.

That won't work for the factory GPS antenna to the Alpine HU.
But I'm fairly certain this will:
SUMI-GT21 Alpine Halo GPS adapter cable for recent Toyota & Lexus

mine should arrive tomorrow and I'll know better when I receive it

Speakers, amp, subs, floorboard lights...and the little step thing under the bumper
Kept going 'nah, don't need', but kept thinking about how I've got great amp, subs and speakers, but my sounds is bass in the back, mids and highs up front...so, went to a couple Best Buys, they're out. Oh, well, maybe next year...

This is my first HU install and I just got everything in to install my Kenwood. does the Maestro RR2 need to be flashed or should it be just plug and play from the box?

I have finally got the whole thing installed and all parts……I will NEVER touch this stereo again. I have run all the cables, hooked up the usb/hdmi and confirmed everything is working.

So after walking away and thinking it over I went at it today after getting home from work. I laid down a doubled up towel, layed the screen upside down on it, taped up any holes and grabbed my drill. I (very carefully and slowly) stepped up drill bits until I had cut the head of the screw off. Success and I don't think I fucked the screen up!

Like I mentioned in my previous post, I'll swing by Ace Hardware and see if I can get some replacement screws, if not, I'll run that bitch with just 3. I still want to go to the Alpine factory and find the moron that thought it was a good idea to torque down a little tiny screw to roughly that same as a lug nut.

If you’ve got the stock dash speakers they’re blasting right at the mic there. There are noise cancelling settings in the HU that you can dig into and see if they help

I'm thinking of installing the screen to leave a small gap at the bottom that leaves the little pocket of the dash kit accessible. Then I can drill a small hole in the pocket to run the wire and mount the mic at the front left of the pocket pointed towards the driver.

    Confirmed that
    1. This cable clips into the back of the Alpine HU at the GPS antenna connector
    2. The other end is the correct shape for the Toyota GPS antenna connector (and is even the same color).
I won’t be able to confirm actual function until after Labor Day but based on the connectors being right I’d say this is the peice needed to retain factory GPS antenna with the Alpine HU.

Also, for those needing this adapter and looking to also install XM radio, the same place has the correct XM antenna adapter so you’re not stuck buying the iDatalink set for just one component:

Nice job on finding a solution! I would assume that if both ends fit it should work as intended. No shipping notice on mine yet, but I will post up my findings if I get it all installed before you are able to test the functionality of it.
