Yeah my wife wasn't so keen on my daughter being in the car. I felt it was safe enough for her but just because of how things turned out, she never actually rode in the back of it. I work remote on Mondays and Fridays and my daughter is only in daycare M/W/F so it was just wednesdays that I would drive the tundra to work since i'd have the little one with me. I'm usually the main person to drop her off and pick her up.

My Tundra usually stays in climate controlled garage until I need a truck, sometimes weeks or more. 20241002_143341.jpg
I use this Ford Escape as my beat around car, it cost me $300 & runs & drives great. 20240430_151248.jpg
Or, we use wife's car any other time. I really like driving this one.20240524_174316.jpg

We currently have the Tundra w ~48k miles and our 2013 Explorer with 160k.

We had a 2010 Fusion (wife's when we met) that made it to 189k before a deer totaled it. We had a 2005 F150 (mine when we met) that made it to 160k before the frame split in half (twice lol). Also had a 2007 Explorer that made it to 210k before a college kid pulled out in front of us last fall and ended that exceptional vehicle. (We bought that for $1k and did nothing but oil changes, brakes, and tires in over 50k miles. She was not a looker, but damn was she a runner. Ins gave use $4k. What a huge win that vehicle was for us)

We definitely prefer to be a 3 vehicle family, as my wife and I both require them for aspects of our jobs, so if one is down, that means we cannot work until it's repaired.

We would prefer to keep the Tundra tip top. Purchasing that truck at $42.2k out the door hurt us to the core. Lol. It's the first (and hopefully only) vehicle we have ever financed, but it is a tool that we provide for our boat and my wife's family cottage. But being a guy that's never spent more than $6800 cash on anything other than our home, it went deeply against my financial ideals. We're paying the Tundra off quickly and will be back to payment free in short order.

All that said, we will be buying a cash vehicle, likely next yr, as we do not sell vehicles and keep them until the bitter end. We chose the Tundra bc as long as a college kid doesn't ruin it, we will have it for 20 yrs or more, and the price of trucks is only increasing dramatically.

I'm leaning toward a Camry or Avalon hybrid at the moment, will keep the miles off the truck and is big and efficient enough for us to use as a DD w three kids. It's also the vehicle we will give to our oldest when he turns 16. I'll be looking for a extremely well maintained, sub 150k vehicle with no rust, in the $8-12k range. I'm sure we will find it without too much hassle, but may have to travel a bit to get it.

We've always had a "large number" of cars on the road. However, insurance going up again........may have to sell a couple.

In process of buying a dump truck! Should complete the deal Friday.

That'll make us: 6 vehicles in use!

Myself, I'd get another car, just for running around in, and keep the truck for hauling and pulling, but it depends on your needs and budget.
