You do realize the new V6 out preforms the 5.7?

You do realize the 5.7 was designed in 2006?

In other countries people have to import these trucks. And if they import, they choose the ones with the baddest sounding V8.

Was first available in 2006. New engine usually spends at least 5 years in R&D, so it was designed in the beginning of 2000s. Based on at least 10 years old technologies, so it was not a novel design at the time of reveal. It had nothing new that Europeans didn't have in 1995.

Maybe a communication issue? I meant with a v8 option. I know they have them in other countries as far as the model Truck is concerned.

Yes they import them not a thing these people in other countries would find at their local dealers. Lots of used Raptors and TRXs end working for drug cartels in Mexico or imported sheiks in the middle east.

Depends on the metric. Certainly not in reliability, longevity, or maintenance cost.

All true, I generously allowed for a mere 19 years of technological advancement with the point I was making. The main point being, I’d be surprised if they were not capable of developing a V8 with almost 10% better output and economy than the 5.7 after all of those years if they cared to try. It’s a whole lot more affordable to just take the existing engine out of a car and make it work for the application though when that’s what all of the competition is doing, than to invest it in R&D of a newer and better V8 design.

Numerous 100k plus mile trucks on this very forum with TTv6s in them. Subaru's hit 300k miles on the regular with turbo motors. So, do Hondas and Toyotas.

A person came up to me once when I owned my Raptor Gen 2 asking me what motor was in it. I said a TTv6 -- he shook his head and walked away and I was like it will smoke any NA v8 produced. So, will my WRX STI.

You can not cure peoples v8 opinions, they are like elbows and everyone has one.

Some people want to go fast - others want a truck that will last 30 years. Now we each have a choice.

Toyota built its entire legacy on slow reliable vehicles.

True which is why they still make v8 Trucks with Chevrolet and Ford. Ram I think has finally dumped the v8 Hemi and now only has the inline 6 cylinder which is a good motor but doesn't have a dip stick?

v8s might be simple to work on, make a lot of noise but I doubt their longevity would be any more than any other modern motor on the road.

Good move. Never selling my 2018 either. At 75 y.o., I'll die before it comes close to wearing out.

from my understanding it is on the dash, you have to fill it and then follow a bar graph on the dash to reach the exact level.

Considering the twin turbo V6s outperform the V8s, I'm not going to cry asingle tear.

A plug-in hybrid tenders to both until we figure out the best way to move forward. What is the problem with this? Oh it's not 100% carbon free only like 60-85% Jeez

Honda and Toyota are working on a different battery. Very expensive to develop but everything is expensive to develop early on. If it can get the range that an ICE vehicle can get and dosent take hours to do so then YEAH we have a solution. The fact that Honda AND Toyota are working together is very promising. Also tells me that the government should stay out of R&D unless they want to be proactive instead of political.

In the past couple weeks Ive driven a 5.3 and 6.2 GMC. There's no there there with the 5.3 and the 6.2 isn't great either. The 5.0 in the F150 is pretty listless and the eco boost is great.
A month or so ago I drove a Lexus with the 5.7 and I had forgotten how decades out of date that powertrain is.
    I won't shed a tear either.

Lol. 100k nowadays is childs play. The TT tundra is a round 14.5, so it the Ford 5.0. So let's not pound our chest like the TT is fast. And don't even bring tuning into question. The F150 is pushing 700+ with a Whipple 2.9. Your TT will never smoke that. Also let's not compare a turbo engines pushing 3,000lbs vs 6000lbs + towing and longevity.

A coworker got a new Silverado for a work truck. He came in very upset about it having a "4 cyl" engine. I laughed out loud because I thought he was joking which only made him angrier.

Sure enough. A 4 cylinder in a gasser full-sized half ton. I couldn't believe it.

I don't think the V8 is coming back for Toyota, at least not in the US.

No, I meant you had to floor it to get it to move compared to the others coupled with a transmission that never has the right gear.
