So what's the difference between Line-X, Rhino and Bullet? Coarse or fine? They all seem to have the same lifetime guarantee.

If your rubbing rocks and taking hits to the body panels, I would not do vinyl.

Most anything else, it is tough and repairable.

Rhino is not very good. I posted a pic on here recently about how craptastic it is after a year of use.

I have had several Line-X beds and work with trucks that swap back and fourth every other year in a fleet of over 600 vehicles. Line-x is very nice. There is always a but....

Repair jobs never last, at least for me they did not.

That's very cheap. Local line x dealer his own Chevy truck and he told me it costed him $8000+. I would jump on it at that price, provided that they are reputable.

I think both line x and vinyl will make your resale market smaller. But then again, same goes with dechroming and debadging, but forum members have no problem doing that.

Here's what I see as pros and cons of the whole truck line x.

    Pros:

    1. Protection. You will no longer have to worry about door dings, rock chips, etc. I am not sure how they hold up in crashes, but I am sure they will do better than stock trucks.

    2. Easy maintenance: Just soap and rinse, from what I've read.

    3. Looks: I think they look bad ass.

    Cons: (besides $$)

    1. Wear and tear due to extra weight. Even with just the bed liner, the weight is not negligible. With line x on the whole truck your truck becomes heavier. Engine, brakes, etc. all have to work harder. (along with this line of thought, mpg drop, etc.)

    2. Repairing it will be tough.

    3. Looks: beauty is in the eyes of beholder. I love the look. The guy who buys your truck may not. Depending on the buyer, this mod could actually bring down the resale value.

Everything considered, I personally would still do it at that price. Now, if I could just convince my local line x dealer to give me 60 % off discount . . .

It's getting a lot more popular around here. We see completely Linex'd trucks almost daily, though it is usually the 3/4-1 Ton Diesels. I recently had my rockers and wheel wells done, out of curiosity got a price on the whole truck... Starting price of $6500.00 CAD, so you'd be getting a great deal! As long as they do good work...

I'd say @chphilo covered the upsides and downsides pretty well.

I've owned one black vehicle, a 1970 Duster with the 360 V. Loved it. Black paint was a bitch though. Some neighbors cattle got loose on the highway. Totalled the car, killed six cows. Fun times. (Owning a decent sized boat is cool too as long as it's not mine. heh heh. )

I'm just wondering why it is so much cheaper at this place compared to everywhere else.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and risk banishment from the forum... but I'm not a fan of the look.... if you want to line-x the rocker panels, I can get that... but the whole truck? Not for me. Like chphilo says... beauty is in the eyes...
AND... I would think it would add a significant amount of weight to your rig. Think about wear and tear and how it could affect your handling and stopping distance... use the $$$$ for other mods.
    Just my opinion... good luck!!!

TRD exhaust and intake. Pocket fender flares. Line-X: chrome grill, chrome bumpers, fender flares, rocker panels. Deck rail /w tie down cleats. Undercover Swing Case x2. All weather mats. Stereo system with custom underseat sub box and TacoTunes recurve EZQ.
The Line-X place here charged me $1300 to do the rocker panels, fender flares, grill and chrome on the bumpers with premium. The bed was already lined when I bought it. I thought that was a pretty reasonable price after finding out how much disassembly and prep there was in order to do it properly. They did an amazing job as far as I'm concerned. Took them about a day and a half. If you were quoted $6000 and a weeks time I don't think you would have to worry too much about the quality of the job. Line-X also has a lifetime warranty.

Watched a video on YouTube of a lady doing her entire Tundra herself. It's a lot of prep work if it's done properly. That's what you are really paying for. The actual spray time and the amount of material they use isn't a very big part of the cost. That said...I'm pretty sure Line-X is franchised and what each store pays their guys for labor and how tedious they are is why the price varies so much.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWoMXDBUN3E

Here is that video. This Tundra looked pretty damn rough but I think it looks great especially considering it was a home job. If you are really that unhappy with your paint I say go for it! It may take a while to sell if you ever decide to get rid of it and you probably wont get the money back but it would sell eventually.

Personally I think it's a bad ass look. You don't necessarily ever have to get rid of it. It would also be worth checking with your insurance company about coverage in case of collision.

LINE-X has a new product called LINE-X ULTRA, specifically designed for full body applications. At SEMA this year (2016) they had a tundra sprayed in this stuff and it was really awesome. It's a thin build product and has a really nice sheen to it. Supposed to be tough as nails. The product won a Popular Mechanics Editor's Choice Award. LINE-X has a write-up about it here.

It's pretty new and not all dealers have the equipment yet. I would check with your local guy to see if they are getting their system soon, or check around your area for other dealers that may have it already.

Thats pretty reasonable. I was quoted $6k by line-x for the tan colored bed liner.

Thanks for the input. I know what I think about it, this helps me see what others see and things that I have over looked. I still am really thinking hard about it, but I didn't even think about engine wear and tear and brakes and suspension and all that stuff. I'm with you, I think it looks pretty badass. I was looking at a really deep red and that about sold me.

I would definitely make sure whoever is doing the work is reputable. Just because they are a Line-X dealer doesn't make them reputable. Its a franchise business and everyone operates a little different. Make sure the prep work is going to be there because that is whats going to hold it all there. We have had cheap prep work and the bedliner will literally peel off.

We have had quite a few "Bed-linered" trucks/SUVs roll through here and it holds up pretty well. It deadens quite a bit of road-noise as well.

Also think about suspension. If you aren't running coilovers where you can adjust ride height, it will pull your truck down a little bit. That stuff is heavy once you do a whole vehicle.

Now can you imagine this but in a dark red? I think it would be pretty awesome and I wouldn't have to worry about someone getting close to my truck and seeing all the swirls and stuff. The guy I'm talking to about doing it is a licensed LineX dude here locally north of LA and he's very reputable and is a good guy to boot.

If it don't fade like all other products after a few years in the sun, then do it. Also if your gonna keep it forever cause you will have a hard time finding a buyer. JMO

This badass was also at SEMA and it's completely coated in LINE-X ULTRA. I'm not sure how they do it but it also had recessed lettering on the doors and the flames were sort of 3D as well. And it's red.

I always here this one but it seems to be a non issue especially for a v8 truck. If your liner weighs more than 100lbs for the entire truck you're laying it on way too thick:
