Toyota Stalking, er...um, SPOTTING with Charlie™ (Land Cruiser, FJC, and Lexus LX/GX Edition)!

I'm not gonna lie; I think that this thing is a bit of an abomination, but at the same time I think it's a work of art. The craftsmanship and overall quality that went into this thing is just incredible! It is a 1968 Toyota Land Cruiser; At least that's what it is on paper (Title, registration, proof of insurance, etc). The body is obviously from a Land Cruiser, and the title stays with the body, but it is powered by a pre-OBDII V12 engine from a BMW 7-series, mated to a manual transmission from a BMW 5-series; The rear differential is positraction, but I forget what the guy who built it told me it came from. The wheels are obviously from a Corvette, and the frame was built pretty much from scratch.

The guy who commissioned this thing was not readily available, but the builder was, and he answered every question I could think of. He told me that he's heard everything from people who have seen; A lot of people love it, but some people obviously hate it. It would be one thing to do this to an incomplete FJ40 that has a clean title, or one that has a salvage title and would have a greatly dimished value in stock form, but I could not do this to a decent FJ40; Restomodded FJ40s with modern features like A/C and disc brakes, Chevy small blocks under the hood, and operational 4WD systems are fine by me, but while I think this is cool I could not do this to a decent FJ40!

It’s unique, I’ll give it that. And I am very thankful that it is unique.

No A/C, but it does have heat!

 

I'm not a fan of BMW or their drivers. Can't stand that the Supra has a Beemer powerplant either.
Yeah this might be a v12 and I can appreciate the effort it took to make that work, but not like this. I'm on the not for me side with some "you don't lower a Cruiser" mixed with some "F@ck no's" throughout.

 

I have to admit, looks like someone did a nice job of it, even if I think they did the wrong job.

 

I'm more of a fan of the craftsmanship than the finished product myself; My primary goal in creating these threads, however, is to seek out the most unique Toyotas on the road and share them!

 

I just seek out the most unique Toyotas and take pictures; I had to have this for my collection...

 

It was done " right " for sure. Even if I'm not sure what right means here.

 

Definitely a unique and we'll executed project, but not for me. Maybe with the top off it would look more HOT ROD roadster, that might be cool for the lowered look, but overall not for me.

And thanks for posting these! I love seeing what people do and especially to Yota's. So keep em' coming! Never know what you'll see until you look.

Very cool! I wouldn't do it, but I can appreciate the craftsmanship and skills to do it. I'll stick with my conventional 40

If I was to have a slammed toyota , it would be a 60s or 70s hilux with a 3rz 5 speed swap and I would daily commute it.
