    5100s all around, 295-70-18 Defenders, 1.25 Spidertrax spacers, BD reverse lights, de-badged, interior LEDs, footwell LEDs, reverse LEDs, ARE cap, front receiver hitch for cooler holder, cooler holder/rod rack, backup camera, Kenwood HU, Westin nerf bars, Husky floor liners, folding rear seats, remote battery posts, plastidip grill chrome, Powder coat bumpers.
    Depends on your definition of offroad, I go offroad a lot. I can't go places I could go in my two previous Isuzu Troopers, but the places I want to go now, I can take a lot more stuff. I can go most places that my friend with an overland built taco goes. There are some times when it's to his advantage that he is 18" shorter than me. Or has 5.5" less width, said no woman ever.

    Yeah, our trucks are very capable offroad, I really wouldn’t trade it for any other truck. I can’t imagine cramming my family into a midsize and I actually really enjoy wheeling a full size truck. And although a locker would be nice, the Tundra can get through most terrain without one. I’ve only really needed a locker a few times and maybe had to turn around a couple times. High centering is actually the bigger concern.

    It was pretty steep with very little traction. You see that second large rock that I went over going down? I couldn’t go over it going up so when I got to the spot I got stuck at, it was basically a 90* turn and couldn’t approach in any other angle. And once I got hung up, I lodged my Rear Diff between 2 boulders. It sucked. Had to shovel and use the tredpros to get out.

    I see the Power Wagon is bring up the rear.
    My son has one and this fall when we got 14" of snow on the deer hunt we had all 4 chained up.
    I love my tundra for work and moderate offroading but I think my next purchase will be a Power Wagon.

    Yes it would be nice to have lockers as a factory option along with many other features that the other manufacturers have. Even a basic feature such as remote start are lacking on the Tundra. Toyota has a lot of catching up to do.

    I bought my tundra in 2013 with the specific goal of using it for off road exploration and camping. It is extremely reliable and has a great 4wd system. The engine has lots of power and the rear axle is huge. The front axles are robust. The only thing this truck needs for serious off roading is large tires, good shocks, and a new leaf pack. A rear locker helps, but I've never needed one to get where I wanted to go.

    I bought a full size because I want to be able to carry two full size spares and gear. I don't see how you can fit all the necessary stuff into a tacoma and definitively not into a jeep. I've been wheeling for over 5 years and if I had to do it all over again I would still get a tundra. Click my signature for my build thread

    I didn't build a prerunner, I built a versatile truck that can do it all. Going fast is a side effect of building a proper suspension that has extreme articulation and is reliable. Plus it enables me to shave a lot of time off my trips. Why spend 4 hours getting to a remote campsite when I can do it in one hour?

    Not only can I tackle extremely technical trail, I can cover large amounts of territory swiftly and reliably while carrying two full size spares, a full set of tools, full compliment of critical spare parts, and I can do it in a fully self contained camper; tent, hot water system, fridge, and kitchen.

    Tundras are plenty capable off road. They’re just underrated by off-roaders, and underoptioned by the factory. Nothing you can’t solve on your own.

    And for what it’s worth, there’s never been a trail that a Tacoma, FJ, 4Runner or Jeep went down, that I didn’t also fit through. It just takes finesse - I actually enjoy wheeling the full-size far more than my previous Jeeps (3 wranglers), Samurai, Dodge D50, or the 2 Expeditions, or Dodge 1500.

    The Tundra is becoming more and more recognized and used off road as they become affordable on the used market. Someone else already mentioned they could get a used Tundra cheaper than a used Tacoma.

    Come out to Tundras to Sedona in two weeks and there’ll be about 150 Tundras in the dirt. To varying degrees of difficulty.

    Joon, did you hold the throttle long enough for ATrac to kick in? Stay steady in the throttle between about 1500-2000 rpm and it should grab and get you going. It’s not as smooth of an engagement as it is in the smaller platforms, and sounds like everything is breaking, but I’ve used it in two wheel situations successfully. That was some pretty loose shit, not sure if it would have worked, but maybe.

    Nope, didn’t even try it. Problem was my Rear Diff got lodged in between these 2 rocks and so I was spinning both rear wheels. And the slider was hung up too and was spinning one of the front wheels. I was basically 1WD. :facepalm:And just below that area was a large drop off that took me like 15 minutes just to get up so that’s why I didn’t want to back up to try to reposition. It was just a fucking mess. :D
