ok, what the hell am I reading here, it looks like this is over the lag/surge thing , not the engine recall, bearing thing, looks like that was secondary.

"According to the lawsuit, certain Toyota Tundras have a defect in the V35A engines that traps debris inside the engine. Drivers report “throttle lag,” “jolting,” or “lurching” when the defect occurs, where pressing the gas pedal produces no immediate response, followed by a sudden burst of acceleration, the lawsuit says."

The usual outcome of this type of class action lawsuits is a Service Campaign and warranty extension, not monetary compensation for the owners. Toyota will have to pay legal expense, though (lawyer's money).

From a fellow poster; "Honestly, I would love to see something done in terms of extending the warranty...."

Now regarding this engine issue. I understand some people are getting the runaround from Toyota and mum from some of the dealers. Toyota with their many troubles allegedly have been ignoring some Tundra owners (not already on the replacement list) over this issue until the word gets out through YouTube or any other social media site that may draw too much attention to a particular persons issue. I also understand that some owners who had problems off-roading are having trouble with their warranties being cancelled for using their vehicle for going off-road for which you would think the 4x4 truck's use is intended for. My question is; unless you used your truck for a launch pad off big rocks or what would be considered excessive abuse, why if true, are owners having to go through this predicament? Is this just a bogus rumor? They already know where your vehicle is or where you've been. I feel this problem is directly connected to the engine warranty problem and Toyota by all means should take care of every owner either by fixing your trucks or providing you with another and/or buying back your vehicle for the full price. I also read on another Toyota site that some owners who have had their engines rebuilt are already going through a 2nd replacement engine. Will Toyota do the right thing or drag their feet to the point where you are waiting many months or even a year(s). I know it's a big task and a problem for them, but it is also a big problem for us, the consumers who purchased in good faith of receiving a quality vehicle.

When I talked to my dealer about the hybrid I bought, they said if the engine blows on it, it will brick out and not be drivable which could be a safety issue.

It is weird hybrids aren't involved. If they would be more transparent it would benefit them in the long run.

He might not have been the cause, but it sure looks like he made a great scapegoat.

And that’s just Quality, not Engineering, Manufacturing, etc.

There are probably a few folks acquainting themselves with how brooms operate.

You “suicide” someone at the top for effect and “re-educate” a few minions for the benefit of the troops.

What you stated… also you’re talking cast vs. aluminum block on the 5.7 I believe.

I would say the past 30 years Toyota has been a tank. Since Old Man Toyoda handed the reins over to the younger guy, Toyota has sucked. I think the new generation of leadership disgusted this man and he probably left as soon as it was clear this was the new direction of Toyota.

That is such a horribly-stated filing, headed by what looks like a small-ish ambulance chasing lawfirm. It looks like they used one or two pictures from that Ryan guy. That's one reason why Toyota served those C&Ds, that crap can and will be used against them. If it's not carefully curated information provided by Toyota, they don't want anything else out there that could fuel lawsuits like this one.

    It'll be interesting to follow.

I’ll bet some AI Bot put those two issues together trying to make it appear they are related. If not AI, horrible journalism.

Nope. That's nearly verbatim from the class action filing document.

HMM, bunch of rednecks file a class action lawsuit at some 2 bit law firm and plan to take on The Toyota Motor Corporation for failures that fall under warranty and a recall. Sounds like a fine plan lol

ya, I still don't see what the damages are, they are fixing the trucks. Unless one of them got into a wreck and can tie the lag/surge to crash or something

you can't just demand shit with no damages.

That said, Im no lawyer, I just slept at a holiday inn last night

Bingo. Resale value wasn’t something bargained for in the initial purchase.

Heads are probably going to roll over this entire deal , losing that top spot to Subaru isn’t going to be taken lightly in Japan

I have a may 23 build and my truck has died on the highway before this recall was announced. Toyota blamed it on my mods. my build date isn’t even a part of this recall so I’m sol. Womp womp

What mods did you have at the time of failure? If they can't reasonably show that your mods caused the failure you can contact your State AG office and lodge a complaint based on the Magnusson Moss Act. The fact that this recall happened as well will only lend credence to your complaint. Unless, of course, you have heavily modified it in a way that could reasonably be assumed to cause the failure.

Yeah, that's a bullshit excuse. File the complaint, for sure. When you say "they" who blamed it on that? The dealership or Toyota corporate?

I have the same build date as your and also not listed but if that engine spins a bearing I guarantee you they’ll be fixing it for free.

The dealership. Had video evidence of the stall as well. I’m just waiting for it to either blow or for them to increase the recall to all of 23

The dealership doesn't get to make that decision. Escalate it to Toyota.
