Can Adam pick a damn truck already?
I'm shopping for a travel trailer and need to agonize over it for a few pages.

I have the one I want picked out, but gotta get confirmation that it's not gonna implode.

What trailers are you looking at? If budget allows I would suggest Oliver, Casita, or Escape brand trailers. Spendy, but last forever.

    Okay, here's the deal,
The 248BH has the rear bunks that I planned on removing and making a closet/storage space. But, I suspect that there's tank n shit under the bottom bunk, so I wouldn't have any floor space unless I did major renovations.
The 241RB is only a few inches longer, 200 lbs heavier, no room for a storage space, but I could reconfigure/mod so that I can have a work bench and some storage. And it's $3k more.

Actually, it looks like it's only 130 lbs heavier.
    Whatever, math.

It's got less hitch weight too. On a Tundra, that'd be my concern. It'll drage a trailer that weighs twice that with ease, but the payload evaporates long before you get there.

With my truck's config, I have 1700 lbs of payload. My biggest concern is cross winds and fuel consumption.

I'm confused on where they are getting an extra 6" of exterior height on one of them. They're pretty much the same trailer.

Well fuel is gonna be crap no matter what. My tundra sucked fuel with my little utility trailer, so there is no getting around that. Cross winds might be better with something smaller, but I assume you already know how much space you need.

Might be rounded on the top a bit. Look at the flat roof line at the front right here

    upload_2024-7-16_12-56-0.png

and then look at this one and how it sticks up more in the middle.

I like the 241RB with the rear bath and easier to mod, but it's $20k.
    The other one is $16,500.
    That's the biggest hang up.
Is the one I like more, worth an extra $3500?
    They're both new leftovers.
The one I like more is a '22 and the other one is a '23.
Maybe I can talk them down a bit since it's been sitting outside for 2 yrs.

I think they're basically the same. Same builder.
I assumed it was something to do with the AC unit on the roof, but 6"?
it might even be a typo.
I'll find out Monday when I'm there.

and the color matched grill. Apparently I'm not up to speed on trims though. It's a platinum.
tundra won't be fazed by those cross winds. Fuel consumption with the tundra is a wash when towing because we chose reliability. Well, 1-2.5 gens do at least.

Picture I found online is a totally different AC unit on the roof (and the trailer looks different as well)... Maybe the new model year is where the height difference applies?

I don't know enough about pricing and trailers either but what it sounds like you want is a compact toy hauler. Basically a garage space at the back end that's completely separate from your house.

If it's big enough to be separate from the living space, it's likely going to be a heavy tongue weight. Though, his Tundra does have better payload than most. :monocle:

Did a quick search. @RichterScale is on the right track with those other options. They are priced right compared to new toy haulers.

Those would be really easy for the Tundra. I’m researching bunkhouse trailers, dual axle with one slide out.

The plan is to keep it around 6k-6500lb loaded. It will take a lot of trial and error, but I believe I can load the trailer for 12% tongue weight. That would be 720-780 lb, and then a good, dialed-in WDH would move a lot of that to the trailer axles and the front axle of the truck.

I’d carry nothing in the truck at all but people to stay at/under payload.
