99% of us chose to sell products and services we could support and stand behind. Many of us had to sell less. A lot less.
However, I guess anyone who believed Toyota NA would the same bet wrong big time. Some might even say they should stop whining.

I'm not so sure I want to debate with you.

Personally, my enthusiasm is gone for this truck. Can't totally hate Toyota though, everything has gone to crap in the last few years.

and this is exactly why the dealers with less scruples charge massive MA money and couldn't care less if you buy their truck or not. I'm hoping that this will backfire on them and people remember which dealers took advantage of people and which did not.

I still think the whole less is more attitude is not only the most honest way to go but for me at least it would help me sleep at night knowing I was straight up with someone. Guess its why I'm not a car salesman.

Lots of reporting of issues - passing FB messages. Interesting trend developing with people posting completely satisfied with Tundra's without issue and indicating 3000+ miles. them.

Wastegate reports do seem to be trailing off. Fully hope to see that continue and a month or two of new builds not reporting this major issue and I will pull the trigger and join them. Still not willing to give Toyota a pass though. I will feel terrible for the current owners if Toyota never comes clean on what the issue is/was. The current owners deserve to get it sorted under warranty if that Toyota employee post was right and and all trucks to date are affected. If that post was wrong and not all trucks were affected those owners deserve to have confidence in their trucks past warranty without a $10K cleaver hanging over them.

So, how do y'all feel about significant turbo failures occuring after the relatively short factory warranty?

When I say significant, I'm thinking 5% post warranty and under 100k miles

have you seen a march build failure yet?

you and I are thinking the same with this, Im tracking the turbo and the window seal issues. those are just deal breakers for me, wind noise would make me drive that thing off a cliff.

I'm wondering if you could get a reduced price on an extended warranty if it happens to you more than once. If it only happens once they can treat it any other warranty issue, but if you take it back twice for the same reoccurring issue, you may have a little leverage.

I wouldn't be looking for a handout, I would want what is fair, but I expect them to be fair too.

Once, Twice, Three times a lemon law.......

Unless they issue a separate TSB or recall notice for that part, I doubt they are obligated to do anything extra. Is the powertrain warranty the same as the bumper to bumper? or is it longer?

As you guys debate how many cases of westgate failures will be in March, then April, etc, I will continue enjoying my new 22 Tundra.

I have put 3.5k miles on the truck. It drives amazing to say the least, compared to my late RAM ecodiesel. In sport mode, it is ridiculous how responsive and peppy the powertrain is, even with heavy 34” tires.

I will continue enjoying it, and if my wastegate goes bad, which I highly doubt, it will be fixed under warranty.

Fixing I’m sure will take shorter than some of you guys waiting for the unicorn to come out.

Lol. Glad it worked out for you. Toyota is apparently having more issues with the '22 Tundra than they have had with any model in years. Couple that with its scarcity (which I think extends to OEM parts as well), and you have a vehicle that is more likely to have issues and less likely to have them fixed on a reasonable time frame...which is exactly what we're seeing.

You spent your $60k, and it has worked out. But it has not worked out so well for lots of other buyers. It is totally understandable that people are waiting.

Lastly, I would never characterize a Toyota being reliable as a unicorn. Hopefully the 3rd gen doesn't prove me wrong on that.

I'm not warm and cozy about anything turbo be it Toyota or Ford. Loaded up they don't get superduperish better fuel mileage over a V8. Much more complexity to get maybe 3-4MPG better unloaded.

Realistically speaking, how many Tundras do you guys think have had the turbo issue? Hundreds? Thousands? Many thousands? Still feel like issues are blown way out of proportion on this site specifically.

Glad yours has no problems. But tell that to the ‘22 owner who waited (or is still waiting?) on a replacement coilover that doesn’t exist yet. It seems that when issues do occur, they take a very long time to resolve.

Look, having an issue at the initial stages of ownership, does not correlate or mean it won’t workout for people who have issues. All those issues will be fixed, and you will continue enjoying this car for a long time.

Early issue as are always glitches, electronic problems, etc. Those in no way predict long term reliability and happy ownership.

    Wow that blue is sharp!

Did they ever do the Tundra in that Voodoo Blue? I tried for like 2 months last year to get a Taco in Voodoo Blue.... forget it...

Totally agreed that new models have kinks that need to be worked out. The difference is, right now across the board, parts are scarce. Trucks are sitting long enough to be lemon law’d just because they’re waiting on parts for very simple repairs. The risk that you could be without your new vehicle for a substantially long time is much higher now. And the fact that it has worked out for you doesn’t mean that people who are hesitant are waiting on something that will never materialize (like a unicorn).

I completely understand, I have been in the same boat.

At the end of the day, what matters is what makes you happy!

Also, it would work out not only for me, but for vast majority of Tundra owners, more than 99%. Last month, 10k Tundras we’re sold, and it will work out for 9,990 of them.

From an outside perspective, I really don’t understand the obsession some prior 2022 Tundra owners have with this part of the forum.

We get it. You think the new Tundra has a bunch of issues. You love your 2021-below. There are also many people in here who love their 2022.

Not everyone will have the same experience. Most folks who buy a Toyota will have a great experience regardless.

I really just don’t understand certain people coming in to stir the pot for what I see is no apparent reason.

Jealousy. Heck I don't even own a 21-below or a 22 and I'm still here taking it all in.

It’s a benign feeling of justification, not really a jealousy. This happens with every Porsche 911 release. Older gen owners try to find faults with the new gen. I have been there.

At the end of the day we want to feel good about what we have. Again, all goes back to happiness.

That said, we only live once. You like something, you do it! Tomorrow may be too late. God bless and let’s enjoy these rigs in good health.

Yeah I had a Ram too. If that’s what you’re coming from making it to your first oil change unscathed seems like is really big achievement. I went through three transmissions under 100,000 miles amongst many other significant failures in my Ram. Stepping up to a Tundra you probably do feel like you got a unicorn. However us long-term Toyota owners aren’t so easily impressed. I bet my wife and I have close to 1,000,000 miles on Toyotas with just standard maintenance and no real issues. Oh wait our 4Runner power radio antennae went out. That was annoying.

...OR...We're watching because we're Toyota die-hards, we swore off domestics, and the only truck we want to replace our current Toyota with is another Toyota. Some of us have been waiting a long time to buy (not myself, years down the road from me), and the rollout issues combined with supply chain issues are a bridge too far to cross. Many wanted badly to love the new Tundra. Expected it to debut way out in front of the pack the way the 2007 did. But it did not. And it's more complicated than the last truck by an order of magnitude. Seems kinda un-Toyota. It does not seem like it's made by the same company still producing 70-series trucks for the rest of the world.

It's a great truck I'm sure, and in time, I'll most likely be happy to replace mine with it. But on some fronts it is underwhelming after 15 years, and trucks sitting with issues waiting forever for repairs does not instill confidence.

    Hey all
New here but I have been following threads for over a week now. Friday night last week went to pick up my new 2022 limited army green tundra. Sadly didn’t have a chance to enjoy the truck left dealer around 9pm got home 9:30ish 34 miles later drove 3 blocks the next morning. Go the check engine light light as well as “parking support brake Malfunction” error called the dealer that day they advised I need to contact roadside assistance. Contacted the dealer they towed it back to the dealership. I’ve read posts but I think I beat the record here with only 34 miles. All in all dead deal told them them not to tuch my trade in at least it was reliable. Ended up with my old-new truck 2020 tundra TRD sport. Still want the 2022 just waiting for Toyota ti get it right. Sorry for all the buyers that had issues I only had the car for about 14 hours. I guess it’s on me bought the truck 04-01-23. Lesson learned do not buy a car on April fools day. Got fooled Toyota 1 -Me-0

Sorry but I ordered December 2021 got it 04/01 I returned I haven’t gotten a chance to check build date I was so frustrated I was out of words to the dealer all I told them the next morning is I want my 2020 tundra back at least it was reliable. They reversed everything for me. I didn’t get a build date. All I have is order date and pick up date.
