@trdlife and I dipped his entire G-35 sedan a few years back with just the rattle can and some newspaper... we don't drink that much anymore though.

A little of this and a little of that.
Today I platidipped my 2016 CM Limited chrome door handles, chrome mirror caps, front bumper chrome end caps, wheels and factory brushed aluminum nerf bars. Turned out pretty good, if you ask me but I'm partial to it so that doesn't count.IMG_0072.jpgIMG_0073.jpgIMG_0075.jpgIMG_0076.jpgIMG_0078.jpgIMG_0079.jpgIMG_0081.jpgIMG_0083.jpg

I plan on dipping all of my chrome soon. I'll post pics afterwards.

A little of this and a little of that.
First clean your wheels until they're spotless, then clean once maybe even twice more. Make sure you use rubbing alcohol on the last cleaning wipe to get all the detergent/cleaner off of the rim. Next, take some plastic (I used painters plastic) and get a square piece about 3' x 3' and cut a slit in the middle half way up the center. Stuff the plastic behind the rim covering the entire brake disc and caliper. Make sure your plastic doesn't make contact with any inside edges of the wheel. Paint from the outside edge (about 1"-2" on the tire) in towards the middle getting ALL the angles. First coat will be 50% transparency, so go light. Wait 10-15 minutes for the Dip to dry depending on what part of the country you're in. Apply 4-5 more coats for a total of 5-6 coats in all. Letting wheels dry 10-15 minutes between each coat. After the last coat, let the wheels dry another 30 minutes before pulling the plastic out from behind the rim. Be very careful you don't let the plastic roll up any of your Dip. Peel the Dip from your tire and you're good to go.

Some people apply a top coat or metalizer as the last coat. I didn't because I wanted a matte finish without any sheen to it at all.

Youtube has tons of videos on how to properly Dip your wheels.

For the people that have done the grill surround and bumper end caps. how does the dip hold up to scrubbing on for summertime bugs and winter roadway salt?

Sorry @Grizzly660 we don't have road salt here in Vegas but I'll keep this post updated about summertime bugs when it gets warm again. DYC sells a product that goes on your dipped stuff to protect it. It makes the dip coating a little harder but also is easier to clean. I'm going to get a bottle for my wheels, front bumper end caps and door handles. I'll also post details of that when I have them. Hopefully others have had experience with what you're asking.

I saw that you had mentioned the dip coat in a previous post, and In immediately went to the DYC website to research it. And then order it. Here's to hoping it works like it says it does! I hadn't dipped anything until this truck either. Definite upgrade.

You and me both (works as advertised). I didn't do a really good job cleaning the small nooks and crannies of my wheels so there are a few places that'll need touch up, when I get the energy ..... :help:

And thanks for the write up on how you did your wheels. I watched a few YouTube videos, but the more tips I could get, the better.

Dipped the chrome front and back and removed chrome mirror caps. Really like the looks and really changed it. if the dip doesn't hold up I'll eventually do something different (bed coating?)20161203_110638.jpg 20161203_140119.jpg 20161203_151402.jpg 20161203_151418.jpg

This is a good thread. Thanks for the pictures. I'm going to be attempting to plastidip the badges black and the chrome on the front and back to white as soon as I get the chance.

A little of this and a little of that.

I left the wheels on. Take a trash bag ( I used painters plastic) and cut it half way up the middle. Then stuff it behind the wheel and cover your rotors and caliper really good, no tape. Make sure you clean the wheels good (I made that mistake by not cleaning as good as I thought. I thought they were clean after twice around, NOPE!).

Wheels don't cut it here in North Dakota winters. Plus you can go anywhere you want with that much surface area touching ground you only sink about 3-6 inches in the snow.
