I believe it's going to be the motor out of the LS500.

It will probably end up in the new Land cruiser also.

@AzureNightmare I still would like to see what is possible with a dynamic force style V8. TT V6 seems like short term minimal effort . I could be wrong.

no. I didn't know this. Thank you. Did not see that in the owners manual as I pulled over irritated to the point of screaming at an inanimate object to see if what I was doing was wrong yesterday.

Oh, I hear you. lol Sometimes the tech is dumber than it is smart. It's a mild inconvenience to hold the button when turning it on, but it makes it function like the old school stuff. I like having the option for both, because a long drive on a mostly straight highway is where the adaptive cruise shines. Still gotta keep an eye on it though.

All V8, except Lexus lc500 and future twin turbo 4.0 V8 Lexus lcf500 will be all gone.

    https://youtu.be/9i549-8QFbo

Toyota kissing the V8 gone. About 30k more of the 5.7 will be made and then all gone. Get them while you can.

I am someone who always buys used vehicles and would never hesitate buying a high mileage Toyota as long as it seemed taken care of. I know time will tell but I may think twice about buying a used tundra with a turbo. :notsure:

Outside of a diesel I wouldn't buy anything used with a turbo. I feel like maybe 10% of the motoring public knows anything about taking care of them properly to ensure a long life span.

This is true. My first and only turbo car was a vw. I researched how to care for a turbo and did everything possible to keep it healthy.....heck even installed a turbo timer. But your right, most people wont care or know.

Couldnt agree more! Trucks have become the vehicle of choice for the soccer dad. It is ridiculous. They need to make a soccer dad version of the trucks so those people will buy them. Then make a real truck.

Honestly, if toyota just updated the interior, allowed me to get a 6.5ft bed on CM, and put in a locker I would be set. Oh and stop the squeaking on the new trucks haha that gets annoying

This. I already know I'm going to miss my 6.5 bed after upgrading to a CM last week.

Guess what?!? Look who might be back. I always thought the 5.0 V8 engine from the Lexus lc500 should come to the tundra. Looks like they are thinking of bringing it to the Lexus LS500 (currently has the v6 TT) with the 5.0 engine V8. Much better engine than the current 5.7 engine. More power and torque.

I wonder if Toyota would consider offering the 5.0L V8 to compete in line with Fords 5.0L. If they did a Hybrid option that would appease some of the V8 crowd as well as those seeing better gas mileage.
Someone needs to get Mike Sweers on the phone and start asking some tough questions:goingcrazy:

Yep, this would make a lot of sense. With the exception of Toyota and Nissan (which, IMHO, isn't worthy of consideration), the other 1/2 ton truck manufacturers offer a V8 and then some variation/deviation from that (e.g., TTV6, or turbo I4, diesel, etc.) Quite a few more people value your standard V8 than people realize. For example, with respect to the F150, 65% either bought the V6 or some variation of the Ecoboost...and that leaves 35% buying a 5.0L V8. That's a fairly significant # IMHO, and I think (just my opinion) that Toyota would be shooting itself in the foot if they simply get rid of the 5.7L without offering some N/A alternative to it.

Here are specs of the Lexus LC500.
    471hp
    398 lb-ft

Mike Sweers even said not long ago there is no replacement for displacement.

My future prediction. They will bring this 5.0 V8 for the the Tundra TRD Pro model only.

471ho will be in the high end of the powerband. For truck duty they will have to bring those numbers down. The engine will not survive as long withose high horsepower numbers. Low end torque will probably suffer with that smaller engine.

That engine is the 2UR-GSE. It's the same motor as in the RC F and the GS F. The GS platform is going away but there is no plan yet to EOL the RC F. It is a very sweet engine, love mine. In the RC F it is a high strung V8. Low end torque is weak but put it in sport + mode and bring the rpm's to 4.5 - 5k (redline at 7k+) and slam the pedal. Wow.

Great engine for a lighter sports oriented vehicles that do not tow or haul heavy loads... worthless in a heavy truck that hauls and tows heavy loads.

They should just make an HD version of the Tundra so that it is exempt from MPG standards and continue with the 5.7 (to include resolving the CAM Tower issue). Those that want fuel economy can choose the TT V6 and everyone is happy!

yeah no argument there. both are great motors and serve the purposes built for.
