it started in the 50s when big pharma took over medicine and the 80s put the nail in the coffin by hooking the country on electronics.
Everyone is on 6 different meds and glued to cellphones, gadgets and Netflix. And what every generation is born into is a little worse than the last.
so, just drive and wait your turn to have your vehicle totalled, either by your own stupidity, or someone else's.
pretty soon, no one will be allowed to be in control of anything that they can hurt themselves or others with.
It will be the movie Wall-E.
    we're almost there now.

these things you mention manifest themselves poorly when a hurricane comes and shuts off power for 3 days.

I hate going out to eat.
8/10 tables, everyone at the table has their stupid face in their phone.
then these same idiots shoe horn everyone into a vehicle 45 min later and control a motor vehicle on public roads.

    this.

    someone said..

I'm going to create a drug just like CRACK..and make everyone use it.

and they will WILLINGLY pay ~$5 a day to large telecom/media companies to do so.

and they will simultaneously give up all their private data for free!!

and everyone will become absolutely dependent on it.

businesses will utilize it by buying the data from the telecoms/media companies to create better ways to keep people strung out.

it will dwarf the effects of crack cocaine.

all visual media will be controlled.

all audio media/music will be controlled.

    and here we are.

I get annoyed when I go to a restaurant alone to order food and they seat me at the bar. The bar is the only seat in the house where they'll forget about/ignore you in plain sight. Just put me at a damned table!

My issue is with the guys who pass me because I'm only driving 65 in the 65 zone then hit the brakes as soon as they get in front of me.

Wife and I went shopping for a sectional when we bought this house. We sat on every one in the showroom in 3 different stores and found one that was both comfortable and looked good. Turned out it was too big for our 400 square foot bonus room.

I think 9 out of 10 drivers are clueless how the right of way works at 4 way stops. First you have to stop.

    BTW, I'm an optimist.

Speaking of driving, it’s about a 10 km drive from the 2-lane Hwy to my place. It’s paved 2-way/no passing - max 70 kph. Lots of cottages on the lake I live on (over 450), and cottagers in the summer. A lot of elderly people as well. So, it seems 5 times out of 10, I end up behind one of these folks that decides to do 50 kph or less (typically slows down to 30 - 40 kph going up hills and around curves). Drives me absolutely bananas as I typically drive 70 - 80 kph. You would think they would pull over for two seconds to let you pass, but no, so you’re stuck behind them for over 10 mins, and usually it’s when you’re in a hurry. I’m sure more than half have no clue that I’m even behind them.

BUT - If it's your turn you gotta GO! I'm not gonna sit there all day and beg someone to cross when it's their turn (or wait for them to finally figure it out). If it's your turn and you don't go, I will.

My bank debit card got declined today while checking out at Costco. Was $370, and have sufficient funds in my chequeing acct. Was embarrassing. Called bank, no help. Went to branch and asked for a new card. They said “no” as they claimed there was nothing wrong with my card. Things escalated after the teller demanded to know why I was at “that” Costco which she claimed was 3 hrs from my house. Told her it was none of her business and we don’t live in a police state, and that I go there almost every week and that I actually only live an hour away. Told her to look at my bank records to see that I go there all the time. Police were called because they refused to let me withdraw all my money from my chequeing acct (over $10K). Never showed up after me waiting 45 mins. Will be closing out all my investments as well this week after I meet with my branch financial advisor. The a-hole behind the “wall” piped up and said “ask me if I care”. We’ll see when my advisor speaks with the area manager.
Actually went back to Costco, and card still didn’t work, so went to the ATM, there and took out enough cash to pay for what I originally bought. Ended up with same cashier, and she was surprised to see me back. She shut down her cash so she could hear the story. She called BS on it being a Costco issue. What an f’in day…

I was at a really busy 4 way stop last week. When it was my turn to go, I had to wait for pedestrians crossing in front of me. Therefore, the lady on my right who was turning left thought that meant she could pull into the intersection to wait for them to finish crossing. Then she got upset when I rolled into the intersection towards her and blew the horn.

Yeah, pedestrians change things. Rightfully so, they have a turn to cross as well. I'll admit, I'm not sure what the official rule is on that one when at a 4way stop. Areas I'm in with pedestrian traffic have stoplights that coordinate all of that.

Had a credit card declined at the pump not too long ago. Customer service was worthless. Long story short, from speaking with multiple reps (a couple who genuinely tried to help), I've pieced together they had a major software update to the system that holds their customer info. They blamed me for not updating our phone # and address, used it as an excuse to close my acct. without warning or any communicatiin at all. Mind you, I've had the same phone # and address I've been at (and they've sent correspondence to) for the last 12 years. Yep, everything on their end reverted back to our previous address and old land line phone #.

Funny thing is, about 2 weeks after they sent me the letter declaring failure to update our address was the reason for closing the acct, I received another letter simply saying my account was closed in error and it has been reinstated. No apology, no explanation.

I get it, but people are way too generous/yielding sometimes. And some people are way too literal with them which is also bad. If a truck with an enormous trailer is slowly approaching and you are driving a VW Bug, let the guy roll it. Half the time everyone arrives at the same time and people have no clue what to do.

They put a roundabout in my town. You'd think it would be better than a 4 way stop. What a mess. People cannot negotiate roundabouts, at all. It is catastrophic when it's icy out. People need a "black and white" device to tell them what to do, otherwise they become very, very confused.

There is no good answer here.

    no, no there's not.
we seriously need to go back to living in caves for another 10,000 yrs or so and introduce all these modern concepts slooooowly.

by the way, a roundabout is the simplest shit ever. 5 times simpler than a 4 way stop.
you pull up to the roundabout, you yield to anyone already in the round about, when there's an opening, you pull into the roundabout.
pretty much the same concept as a revolving door.
    people struggle with those also.
