I would check the connectors, but unless you've had the rear door cards off in recent history, I'm skeptical things would be detached.

If anything were to go out first, I'd expect the HU rear channel to be blown if the speakers aren't detached. I've only seen factory amps fail twice in my lifetime, once in a Mazda 3, once in a BMW 3. The former took out 4 of 6 speakers, the latter died to the point of no-power-on. I've seen HU front and rear channels burn up more than once.

I'm fairly certain on your truck (w/o referencing EWD) that the front and rear channels should be in one unified plug at the HU and the amp, so I highly doubt this is a case of forgetting to plug something in last time you were in the dash. But I'm also not 100% positive on that w/o seeing wiring.

Is your factory amp in the dash or under the plastic cover inside the rear passenger underseat storage bin?

This happen to me and it turned out the wires were damaged/crushed under the door trim. There was a screw going thru it. The trim that has like 4 Phillips screws. Pretty sure if it was me during a detail clean

if i have an amp, its probably in the dash. Pass side underseat compartment has tools in it. Before i got the truck it was in a shop for 5-6 monthes because the door latch locked up. In the shop long enough grandpa went and bought a tacoma. Maybe they had the rear door cards off. Dunno. Ive never been in the dash.

They recommend taking the links out of the bottom hole and then tightening, I just used a thin wrench, but either way it's not easy.

I think that grille might look okay on a truck that has an aftermarket bumper. The stock bumper(plastic one) has a different pattern in the valence so the grille would look a little out of place.

I would also like to see one with the surround painted.

This thread is for an '00 but may be a valid reference for your '02: https://www.tundras.com/threads/project-double-gnar-adding-stereo-camera.96839/

1st page shows amp location in later-model (reply 12), plus speaker setup and location (reply 8). If AC, notice that exploded Toyota diagram, you may be able to pop out the entire rear door bracket and go 6x9. Again, I'd go with JBL, maybe biaxials or something. Based on another member's truck, it looks like they may just straight-up bolt in.

2nd page shows the amp dash location for earlier models (reply 47). Below that you'll find how it's wired - it's not wired the way I expected for trucks with amp in the dash.

Update. I used this lumber to build a privacy fence on our back porch. Total project cost was just shy of $11,000.:)

Yeah they are. That's their house you see that's blue/gray. They are weird and never go outside but I still didn't like looking at their house when I was out there.

so i got the madhornets tacoma version and I happen to have an extra grill, when I have some time I'm going to do what the youtube guy did to his sequoia and cut the old middle section out and fill it with the trd grill and use jb weld and a couple smaller nuts and bolts to hold it together. If it doesn't come out right I'll have wasted $150 but if its awesome I'll have saved myself about a hundred :fingerscrossed:

In other news......drum rolllllllllll I finally got my hood sanded down and into the paint booth, and the camper shell too....its not perfect.....but I'm sure when it's dry it'll look a whole heck of a lot better than it did before.....fare thee well mismatched camper crew!

Thanks though I seem to have an issue with my tweeter(s) or possibly the dsp as I am getting some distortion at high (not loud) volume for some apple music tracks. I had this issue with some very high end tweeters previously, swapped them out and it is still there so maybe the dsp or ??? None the less, I am up to my eyeballs in house projects and have only changed the oil in the tundra in the last 8 months. No other fun projects there. But I am 90% of the way done painting the exterior of my house and it looks great but I am near burn out...Hope to be more than just a lurker here soon again.

Not sure about in this thread, it's a lot to search through - if you're already in this thread, and you tap Search in the upper-right, you can choose "this thread only" for searching.

As for stuff that's come up not in this thread, several topics about vibration and some angle discussion may be found in these, which may help?
