And holy schnikes, that lift is going to be here tomorrow. I'm not mentally prepared to do it this weekend lol... my head is saying yes, but my heart is saying no.

Also not financially prepared for the tires and wheels! Guess I could drive around on 265's for a while and look silly.

'Buy once, cry once' is always easier said than done.

I'll continue to be a loud mouth for the Wheeler's Off-Roaf AAL over the Icon AAL

I just got general springs. I have it down as $700, but I also got new shackles as well.

There's also a 3 leaf AAL from toytec (made by deaver) that is pretty nice. I used it until I realized my leafs were shot and just replaced them completely.

I knew the gunmetal wasn't going to work for me, went against my better judgment. I also knew I'd probably be pushing it with that extra half-inch width and quarter-inch less backspace. I loved where the wheels sat in relation to the flares, but I think it just sorta drills home, ideal avg backspace is ~4.75 once you get up to 8"-9" width. on on a

    Good to know @shifty`

I'll remember that when it comes time for my wheels and tires. I don't have the flared wells, but it's good info regardless.

I think this wa sthe most intimidating thing for me. I've watched @alb1k and @DaveE squat themselves on new packs, and I've watched @FrenchToasty stinkbug himself. gave the impression - when lifting at least - updating leafs are a pretty inexact science.

Only reason I had the confidence to go with the ATS HD springs is because others have proven results, which I hope are accurate for me. But at least it's not an unknown. I can't imagine paying anything more than $800 for leaf packs knowing the risk ...

I rode around like that. It's not as bad as it seems. Hell, I rode around squatting more than an inch in the rear with 265s. Go for it.

    Did you order new uppers?

@metalpete honestly, if you get it leveled you should be similar to mine. This is on stock 17s w/265s and I thought it looked pretty damn badass:

Yeah, I installed Camburg uppers when I threw the OME coils on. Next step is swapping the spindles, lcas, and ball joints to '05-06' versions.

I think Deaver admitted they f'd up with mine. Their second attempt was spot on.

If I did it all over again I'd go with Archive Garage b/c Eric seems to really have the insight. I think I overthought the "fast and light" concept with my '02, I'm 5500 lbs on the dump scale which is 1000 over stock? I only expected to be about 200-300 over stock with the shell at the time I first ordered leafs. I'm not sure how bumpers, sliders and skids plus a shell add up to 1000 lbs but I guess that's just how math is?

I do want to go with the hammer hangars on my Tacomas at some point, and maybe even a crossmember, the Tundra arse definitely feels solid, but I didn't get enough miles on it before/after to know how much difference it actually makes.

Shifty, did you paint your body mouldings? Or do they have OEM white ones?

If they have painted, probably only AC I'd bet. Maybe I'll try to remove mine and get them painted. Looks really nice.

OEM, Limited package trucks have paint-to-match mirrors, bumpers, side trim, grille.

And on the paint-matched side trim, the insert is smoked silver versus chrome or whatever.

Ain't that the truth. I was going to wait until I had enough $$ to do everything at once, but I didn't want to risk the lift getting more expensive and/or running into availability issues. It's the core of my remaining upgrades, a little pointless to buy the rest without having the lift.

Once again, your truck looks great! Nice job.

Man I wish I could just order those up for my truck, they look great. I suspect even if I could buy the AC ones for a limited, it won't fit RC.

My annoyance would be any whistling going on at speed.
I wonder if a roof rack with a fairing on the front would keep it quiet, reduce drag & keep your solar panels cleaner.

I could see building a removable wedge to the front of the camper that you could use to store long stuff like fishing poles, inflatable paddle board, .....

1st gen copied the F150 pretty hard, would be interesting to see if an F150 unit would fit well enough.

This brings me back to when I was a kid going to work with my dad. He’s an electrical contractor and the ladders on the top, especially the aluminum extension ladder, would sing. Fond memories.

Bro, I was gifted another set of Patrick Star rims that I plan to repaint in a gold once it becomes time for tires

EDIT: in the very near future, I plan to recondition the ones that I have on the truck just to see if I like the silver set versus the gold set.

EDIT EDIT: under normal circumstances, I would just take these tires off for recon. However, these tires were originally mounted to the OEM steel wheels and when the opportunity for the first set of Patrick Star wheels came available, I hopped on it in a heartbeat and swapped the tires over that afternoon. I am not trying to dismount and remount the tires a third time.

Good call, I appreciate the offer. I just need to remember who offered it on the other side.

As long as I get at least 1.5", truly, I'll be sitting about where I am today which is fine, about 1/4" rake, I think. But I wouldn't be pissed if I got 2" of actual lift, I'd prefer 3/4" rake and a little extra hauling support in the rear for running beds of soil/mulch/etc. (I don't work landscape, but do keep up with a lot at home)

I was thinking of building something like that! Thanks for the heads up on the link too. Definitely like the idea of a removable storage wedge that acts as a fairing.

Alright... local junkyard has 2006 in the lot and I'm going to check it out this weekend, hoping their lcas, lbjs, and spindles are in decent shape.

I know the lbj bolts are 17mm on the '06, but are there any other size differences (bolt/nut wise) that I should be aware of? Pretty sure all I need to bring is a 17mm, 19mm, 22mm, 24mm, and maybe 35mm & 41mm.
