It was raining so drove the truck into work today. Drove 12 miles of the trip in 4 wheel drive. Decembers 4xdrive done. (see your owners manual:thumbsup:)

Stock, with a few cosmetic mods.
I need to do that but does just a wet road provide enough slip so as not to damage anything as if driving on dry pavement?

I drive mine in 4wd every time I leave my house, about 300' up my driveway. It's baserock and using 4wd helps to keep the surface smooth. Even before we moved out here I always tried to run in 4wd at least once a week for a little bit.

I feel it does. I do not turn 90 degree turns in 4wd though. Just turn it off and back on after the turn if need be.

Today I tore my whole interior apart just to put black AC vent bezels on. Holy shit what a joke. In the process of doing so, decided to paint my chrome drink holder trim, cause why not. Upon removal of glove box, I notice a few “droppings”. So I investigate the cabinair filter box and discover a few things. One, droppings in the cabin air filter. Ew. Upon removing the cabin air filter something fell down into the fan, I was sure it would be a mouse carcass but alas it was a piece of ivory spring soap that I did not put there, assuming the prior owner did. I also noticed the back of the airbox has this big hole in it. Is this normal?

Went ahead and painted the cupholder trim ring. Two light coats of dip for adherence and 3 coats satin black.

    No
That is mouse chewed, along with the firewall sound insulation.
Hope that’s all leftover from the previous owner

what’s it supposed to look like? Rectangular hole? Obviously it’s chewed on, but is there a cover for that? Almost looks like there should be

Just realized your picture is with the glovebox removed. I'm not 100% sure what it looks like back there, since I've not paid that close attention to it when I've had it out.

These are the progressive layers of disassembly for the cabin air filter:
    1. Inner glove box tray removed. Outer cabin filter cover visible.
    CC9BF479-19BA-4551-A8C1-7CDF11D72C1B_1_102_o.jpg

    2. Outer cover removed, inner cover visible.
    D97A1750-06B4-4A0B-9CAE-C45C8051BD0B_1_102_o.jpg

    3. Inner cover removed, filter visible
    1D5545B8-07A8-49A6-833A-3B7E23A90455_1_102_o.jpg

    4. Filter removed, pocket for filter visible.
    E115F8CF-8748-465E-A7AF-9C0E09F1608D_1_102_o.jpg

As long as ALL of those things are fully intact (i.e. the actual filter housing isn't chewed through and seats/mates to the blower well), then I think you should still be fine.

There is at least one thread in the forum about how to screen off the entry points so rodents can't (or are less likely to) get in there. There's also a couple of posts from a guy who had a severe reaction to the rodent scat blowing through the vents. If you're in an area where it's likely, especially if your truck sits for days without your driving it, it's something to consider.

Looks like the opening in question is the inside air intake when in recirc mode. There’s a big door that flips into position to cover it when in fresh air mode?

Is the chewed up part not where this part of that filter housing connects into the firewall area (where the fresh are comes in)?

Rotated for correct alignment. That part would be straight up. Mine is straight back, just above the visible part when looking into the box

Battery in my sons Tundra crapped out mid ride. Thought it was the fuse or thermal overload but wasn’t, was the battery itself. Had a screwdriver so swapped the battery over from my daughters Rzr to the Tundra. Made a towstrap out of a seatbelt and made it home.

yes, I know my kids probably should have been wearing safety glasses. Wasn’t thinking safety first at the time until the belt clip exploded

I see. I was thinking the chewed part was BEHIND (forward in the truck) and separate from the actual housing box that was in the picture.

Not sure I love the satin finish. It’s a little shinier and deeper black looking than the surrounding plastic. We’ll see how it weathers I guess. Nice to be rid of the chrome glare though.

Must just be additional intake for circulating/blending cabin air with the fresh air intake.
