Great information you just gave me and I appreciate it! I'm definitely looking into a weight distribution hitch. Do you think I would need anything else that would be a mandatory item to buy before purchasing the travel trailer?

Been thinking about a travel trailer recently, glad I popped on the towing page here before I did anything. Dealers seem to have no reservations with selling a 30ft travel trailer to people with 1/2 tons.

    Function before sparkle.
It all depends on the trailer you get in the end. A properly setup Weight Distribution Hitch is most important and getting your truck and trailer weighed at a CAT scale (or similar) so you know what you are working with for weight. Also make sure you have good, properly rated tires for the weight.

As you read through here you will see lots of comments about the rear suspension on the Tundra. It's soft and it squats under weight. Airbags are a fantastic way to eliminate squat when towing but they won't replace a good WDH. A longer watch, but this is a good one to understand:

Next, not a purchase, but if you are generally new to trailer towing the mandatory next things is reading lots on how Tundras tow. Things like "reving an engine is not bad" and learning about transmission temps. In my opinion, I would just buy things to make you safe and then add on things after your first tow. Once you do your first trip you will find lots of goodies to buy :)

I added the Firestone bags. Easy install and big difference when towing.

Cutting bump stops off was probably the worst part. Cut with a sawzall the smoke:eek2:

Not sure what the video above says, but sometimes airbags can be bad for towing. They put more weight on your rear axle than it might be able to handle. There was a good video about it that I can’t find now. This one explains it some.

Has anyone towed a 6-7k travel trailer for an extended amount of time (10-15 hours a day) without any issues? I'm toying with the idea of getting another trailer but curious if anyone has pushed the Tundra that hard multiple days in a row. My F150 didn't like my old 9k trailer and my F250 didn't even bat an eye but I will not buy another diesel. That's also what I said about the trailer...

Yes and without any problems...I do it 3 or 4 times every year on the way out west, and back from GA. 650 to 1100 miles each day for 3 consecutive days on the way out, and again on the way back. 10-15 hours each time. fullsizeoutput_a7c.jpg

Excellent to hear! When I go to Montana it's two long days like that. Thanks for the feedback
