    Other than fleet trucks (XL,XLT F350's) and the Raptor I have zero interest in Ford. That $86K for a platinum F150 is just plain stupid.

    And it somehow looks even cheaper than the previous version. They got rid of the tailgate appliqué which to me honestly I thought was cool. But the new 24 interior has cheap written on it. I’m headed today to check out a black 37 pp raptor. I might cancel mine all the pics online the new recaros look cheap too. Cut the amount of alcantara on them

    To be fair it can be had way cheaper. My 22 sticker is like $75 and I was out the door for $63k.

    I can't believe they sold any Platinums in 2022-23. They stripped out several options that basically meant people were buying a Lariat with a different badge.

    Yeah if I did it I would order through granger or Laura ford in STL.

    but I’d take the LE 1794 tundra over it. I found some for $5k off

    Their all business trucks (need to make money for shareholders), but not at the expense of making changes that affect bragging rights that could affect market share. Payload, towing numbers, etc... F150 is a cash cow, so they need the higher manufacturing expense writeoffs.
    This includes Toyota.
    i.e. The Toyota engineering guy that calls himself the Automotive Press on You tube. This guy measures the gaps on body panels in his videos. Serious Toyota FanBoy. He made it clear that all materials being used in 2023 and now in 2024, they are either the same, cheaper $$, thinner, or lighter. Never better. He was doing a review of a new Toyota vehicle comparing it to its Lexus version when he said this. This review was interesting because it was a 2024 4Runner, and its body panels, paint thickness, and panel thickness was the same if not better than the GX Lexus model. Made in the same factory. So his recommendation was to buy it - NOW - LOL. Before the new one comes out.

    He showed where to touch, knock and feel on the vehicles to see where they are saving money. Toyota went the business route in a big way by combining the frames for the Tacoma, Tundra, Sequoia, Land Cruiser. And Toyota Shareholders are very happy if you look at the stock the last couple years.

    your also missing a huge huge factor, CAFE and the Feds EPA pushing the limits, they have to cut weight, emissions, etc.

    Yeah that’s the main driving factor. Toyota used to get by with the Priuses and Corollas offsetting their inefficient-but-last-forever trucks and SUVs. Ever-tightening CAFE standards changed that. Now the models they offer without a hybrid option seem to be few and far between.
    That channel is so fatiguing. ENGINEER EXPLAINS HOW TO MAKE PEOPLE NOT EVER WANT TO CLICK ON YOUR VIDEOS

    Well, there is a reason I did not link any videos.
    Occasionally...rare that it is.... there is some insight that only someone that worked as an engineer at Toyota would have info on.
    In the end its about No. 1 - making money - and losing money - to offset the making of money - so save on taxes.
    Whatever challenges the market or the government put out - its a level playing field for everyone. No excuses.
    And that includes Toyota Service as far as I am concerned. I changed my 4Runner Oil recently and when underneath noticed a couple things that were not good that my "great" Toyota dealership of years had done.
    All these new trucks if running good are just being serviced by a bunch of flunkies for oil changes anyway. Thats the end of them servicing my vehicles.

    I have not seen the video but I can confirm that the doors feel noticeably lighter on our 2022 4Runner ORP vs our identical 2021 ORP.

    That is an interesting comment. I can't say that I am not surprised a little.
    But I would be alot more surprised if the doors were heavier. 8^0
    Very interested in your observations of the new 4 cyl. 4Runner when it comes in regards to body panels - fit and finish.
    Hard to believe its engine will be smaller than my wifes outback engine.

    My 2023 imax runs strong, but not close to our previous F150 Limited with the 3.6 HO. That engine towed stronger, amazing power and same fuel economy I am getting with the Tundra. Rear end seals went out in the f150 at 48K, leaky front engine seal, fit and finish was terrible. That said, I like the Tundra, but it could be much better. The Tundra is designed for the American market, it's would never make it in a Japanese type of market.

    My truck has not made the squeak or done any error messages or had any other drivability issues all week so I fully expect to get an all clear from the dealer Friday then have the squeak come back later. That's OK, it goes back for its oil change in June so I'll just try again then

    That was like my 2014 F150 and now LX570. Now that I have the Chevy Bolt, they might have seen the light of day once a week or less.

    My F150 would get grumpy sitting that long so i had to keep it on a Noco battery charger when it was parked. I keep the 570 on the charger too but probably dont really need to.

    I think it’s still on the R. But they also got rid of the orange stripe on the steering is gone. Instrument cluster graphics and hud are meh

    So I need a heat exchanger. The part is in and will be installed Friday. It is an exhaust system component that redirects
    Exhaust gasses to help keep certain components at proper temps during the transition from ICE to EV mode and back and has been known to have issues on these trucks. There is a valve or some fittings that can develop issues. I think the code shows the valve is my problem.

    Still no new codes or driveability concerns. If anything the valve they think is faulty was making a loud noise when opening and closing before the code came up and has since stopped doing it, going back to behaving like new. But they said it needs a new one so so be it.

    Let the adventure continue. Should be a one day job. Now Resetting the "____ days since last un scheduled dealer visit" meme.

    This and the price of Ford's Powerboost (hybrid) kept me away when I was looking. I hope you got the extended warranty. I liked the idea but not how it is doing.

    I did. 8/100 plus Geoco 7/72 mechanical breakdown coverage for a few dollars a month that I have decided not to cancel quite yet to keep options open.

    It has not stranded me yet but it is making me nervous. The timing is right in that I can monitor things like the new Ram charger's initial record for up to 6/7 more years without out of pocket repair worries and then figure out what I might want to do.

    As of right now on balance I still think it's an awesome driving and enjoyable vehicle but things have to be pretty quiet for 6 more years to convince me to go to year 10.
