    What's up everyone,

Recently (+/- 2 weeks ago), started to hear what sounded like a nail/rock/object in my tire. Only heard it with my passenger side windows down and when I'm driving against a near surface (i.e. walls, parked cars, etc.). With every revolution, you hear a slight tap/slice/jingle. You can't hear it in the cabin with windows up, no humming either. The noise is consistent though, whether you're going 10 mi/hr or 60+ mi/hr. Noise doesn't get louder, just gets more consistent (which makes it louder/more noticeable?).

Inspected my tires, no lodged objects. Recently did my brake pads in January, last rotation/alignment was January. Tires are relatively new with 70-80% tread.

Did the back/forth swerve test while driving, noise seems to remain consistent, no matter where the weight is at on the truck. No steering wheel vibrations, alignment still feels good.

Wanted to check in with the crew, any thoughts on what it could be?

**Attached some videos, I apologize for the LOUD WIND, will need to listen closely**

Any thoughts are appreciated. Have an awesome day!

Sounds like something could be rubbing against the backing plate. Try jacking up that tire and spinning it slowly by hand, might be easier to hear it that way. Good luck.

Followed your orders, captain! What do you think?

I am still dumbfounded though. I can't seem to understand how this whining/scraping would then turn into a ratio of 1:1 - Tap Noise:Tire Revolution.

I have the SCS Ray 10's:
    18x9 | 5x150 6.00" +25mm 27 lb 4 oz

    Tire size is 285/70

I checked out my weights, nothing that led me to think but I'll have another look for sure

That's like, the best description to be honest. The sound is minimal when driving that I thought something may have been on my driveshaft, crawled under and could not find a thing.

Sounds like a plan. Will get back to you.

Getting late here, the fiance will not be thrilled if I bail on date night to fix my obsession... :sadviolin:

    More to come. Appreciate you!

Look for rust on the rotors in the areas the pads don't rub.

Pad retainer was touching the rotor on one side. Causing the whining/grinding noise. Easily can see the area where it was touching.

Bent it back a bit. Unfortunately, it was raining the last time I drove it so I wasn't able to test thoroughly but will be listening for the tapping noise again.

Do any of you know the part number for this little retainer clip? Did a Google search but several come up.

Appreciate you all. Something so small was causing me the biggest headache
