So this mod won't work for the CrewMax?

The console mod will work on a crewmax, I just finished installing mine. The difference is the rear most facing light on the console, the crew max console has a blank plate here as the crew max trucks have a separate rear light. The double cab overhead consoles have lights in the rear most pocket of the console, or at least I think that's the way it works. The console I installed in my 17 crew max, was also from a crew max and had a blank plate instead of a lighting fixture.

I couldn't find this in a few online breakdowns. I had to adapt to not having them, I would not recommend installing without them.

Thanks Fergie. So there will be a gap for double cabs but not with crewmax. That is a bummer.

If you can pull the headliner from the donor vehicle, you wouldnt have the gap. More work though, obviously. I thought about do that on the truck I grabbed mine from, but the headliner was torn and broken at the rearview mirror.

The gap would bother me, however I think I could make some sort of trim piece to cover it.

I'm thinking either a yeti or Waldo cut out that is peaking out from behind the console would work

I would think a thin piece of plexiglass cut to mimic the shape of the console, painted to match, and then some adhesive or tape to hold it to the console. Just enough to cover the gap without really doing much else.

Pay a high school student to 3D print something up. Bet you could sell extras here.

Here you are, Sir. It measures 11.5" from the rear of the console to the front of the light.

Got this mod done this week. It came from an '07. Got it cleaned up, swapped over my MESO kit, installed, looked great. Then found a problem. 20240505_140500.jpg
Not sure when it happened, but the harness in the '18 has an additional wire that the '07 didn't have. I kept getting an error that 'speaker wasn't connected' and my phone wouldn't pair. Ultimately just swapped over the harness and speaker keeping my original wiring. Works like a champ now.

After putting it off for a year, I finally got some free time to install the overhead console. Like @Pillslinger i swapped over my Meso to the console. I also swapped the switches since mine were newer just in case.

No issues at all. I took out the foam after I cut the headliner and put in some sound deadener I had. The harness was plug and play from my 2017.

I took a pic of the screws and clips you need. It’ll be two of each.

Overall, really happy how it turned out. Got some more usable space. It took about an hour from start to finish.

:fistbump: looks great! I see you went with the DC extra light option. How's the extra candle power?

This is a cool mod I would love to do on my 2021. What is the part # for the overhead console, in gray? I don't mind buying a new one at all.

The extra light was a nice bonus. I happen to have a couple of extra LED bulbs that I swapped in. Works great!
